Thanks Porsche Canada for keeping AM34 happy to be in Toronto.

Heard this mentioned on the radio today. Hope the Leafs can hook him up with a few more sponsorships for a little saving on the cap hit ;)

Honestly I'm happily surprised that Lou Lamoriello approved this because I thought he had a set of rules against personal sponsorships for players which are not affiliated with the team.

Scotiabank recently sponsored Matty. I think Matthews has proven he's mature beyond his years, will probably get the C before the start of next season.

Well that would be pretty hypocritical, considering Lou was doing radio ads for a Lincoln dealership about a year and a half ago.

I think this is just one of many endorsements that will come Matthews' way. Think it'll open his eyes to these kinds of opportunities, and hopefully result in a manageable cap hit because he is getting supplemental income elsewhere.

Atta boy Matty! If there was any doubt he was my favourite player, they have been erased. A GT2RS...damn.

You are mistaken - it's quite the opposite. Part of the pitch to Stamkos was all of the sponsorship opportunities that he'd have here.

That is something you need to embrace if you're Toronto. You're a big hungry hockey market, endorsement opportunities are there for star players.

If Tavares came here, BPC is like tailor made for John Tavares because of his background lol.

It's a very rare 911, the GT2 RS. It is the most expensive (Starts at 300k USD) and fastest 911 you can buy. I'm so jealous, my wimpy Targa has nothing on this beauty.

Porsche 911 GT2 RS - Porsche USA

Not the car, that I know. Did Porsche just throw one of their best cars under our stars ass or is there some kind of other deal too? I just see a picture about Matthews with a Porsche and some random guys.

I remember hearing about that. However I thought Lou had different rules for the rookies when it came to stuff like this? Now I know that Matthews is no longer a rookie anymore, however since he is still a young player maybe there could have been restrictions in place.

My 12 year will be happy to see this. I’m more of Ram or F150 guy myself, but I’m good with whatever makes AM happy.

I guess a kid with a lot of money bought a nice car. Hope he drives safe.

Part of this is fantasy on my part but you figure in your head, if anyone were to bring home a cup to Toronto, they are immortalized in Toronto forever. Kind of wonder why some guys on the verge of UFA that are difference makers don't just come to Toronto for a year on less than market value, bring home the cup and live like a king post career in Toronto? You never pay for a meal again in this city that is for sure.

I think it was out there that Leafs Legends alumni pull in like 100-250k a year as well

Alumni weren't paid like these guys are. They don't stress buying a meal.

Well you figure anyone who's put in years with the team and isn't a mercenary would basically be a King. Toronto is shutting down for a week of non-stop partying. There will be a stamp, a coin, many statues. Maybe a public holiday too.

Matthews essentially reaches god status in Toronto.
