Also I’d love to be wrong but he’s not a winner. He likes his expensive things and being in commercials but he Is no leader.

this season kind of proves the point about matthews/ovechkin. Yes matthews may get to where Ovi is, but he has missed a bunch of games this season in his prime but has managed to play the same amount of games (51) as old man Ovi, as of today but has scored 10 less goals than him. No matter how good Matthews actually is, it will be tough to get to Gretzky/Ovi territory. Cheers to 400! crazy that he is already there.

He can't shoot anymore. Still an elite player defensively and racking up assists. But the shot that scared everyone is gone. Must be some kind of core injury if I had to guess. Your shot starts in your legs and works up through your core and his skating looks fine to me.

Matthews’ advantage of the league going higher scoring in his prime is also down this year and if it ends up being a trend like Ovechkin dealt with in the 2010s, the odds will be even smaller.

Almost a 0% chance Matthews plays in a time as low scoring as the 2012-2017 time line that Prime Ovechkin had to.

Depends how you look at it when you say era.I assume you are talking about goaltending here which would be a solid point.That said though, if he played in other era he would definitely be getting more cheap shots on a regular basis .Very impressive player though who has the best wrist shot in hockey for my money.Under rated 2 way game too.
