Max Jones gives me Foegele vibes. Give him a run with Leon , I like how he plays.
Jones played well but he has a long track record of not being a good NHL player so I'd pump the brakes a bit. Seems like it's not uncommon for guys to come in hot and full of adrenaline before falling off a cliff.

With that being said, I'll take his style of play over Kapanen's every day of the week.

To quote Al Pacino, Hoo-ah
Unfortunate we couldn’t get it done in regulation but beggars can’t be choosers.

Jones definitely playing like a guy desperate to stay up, great game tonight but as with all of these guys, consistency of effort and ability remains the issue. Great start, let's hope it doesn't fade.

Bouchard with frankly a terrible game, McDavid another not-so-great outing, and yet it's those two connecting in OT. Not expecting much else from the morons in management tomorrow, but we'll see I guess. At least it's a win, against a surging MTL squad. Their overall team defence remains lacking to say the least.

Really? I counted 3 shots Bouchard put right on players sticks for tips but our forwards absolutely suck at them.

Those are free goals. No other dmsn on the team makes those plays.

Bouchard is down atlesst 25 points this year bc of it

RNH and Hyman have been missing those pucks all year. Real frustrating. Kane is also good at doing it but I imagine his timing will be non-existent when he comes back.

Caufield shoots, gets rebound and scores

Hyman shoots, gets rebound almost scores.

Arvidsson shoots, skates over rebound cuz he lifts his head up over a missed shot.

Get this guy off the team

Jones looked great, even managed to inspire Kapanen a bit.

His play, if he keeps it up, and hopefully Frederic’s as well will keep Kapanen, Brown, Janmark and Arvidsson awake if they want to dress.
Looked very good but you have to wait until the adrenalin wears off to judge the situation. He's never produced a lot of goals for an extended period but he's probably just as good as the existing plumbers in the bottom six.

The execution wasn’t perfect tonight. But that was the most consistent energy the team has played with in a long while. Hopefully it’s the start of a nice rebound streak here.

Skinner was good tonight. Very assertive. The Habs were targeting his glove side and Skinner was all over it tonight. Not many rebounds tonight either.

Podkolzen, Kapanen, Jones are what first round picks look like that don't hit their age 18 projections. I liked Jones game tonight and there's a solid raw toolkit of size, skating and some physical play to start changing the mix of a largely non physical bottom line. Will temper expectations. Though a player I had hoped they might grab from the Ducks a few years back.

Bouchard needed that one
Yes he did...he had some ugly moments in that game.
Good to see him rise above that.

Aisde from the win itself which was badly needed one of the stories of the game was Max-imum Jones.
What a great game he had. Making a difference at both ends of the ice.
Not hard to see why he was a 1st round pick.

Apparenly he had suffered an injury early in the season which is a large part of why he only played in 7 NHL games prior to tonight. Just couldnt get back into the lineup.
He was a full time NHL player prior to signing with Boston and if tonight is any indication Jones looks to be a solid 4th line addition. Very impressed.

Other than that this was a much better defensive game. Aside from some leaky play in the first period (which Skinner weathered) it got better in the 2nd period and aside from the 2nd goal (which was a whole lot of puck watching) the team looked better defenisvely.
A good sign.

I also thought that Dineen had a pretty good game and that the defense sans Ekholm did pretty well.

On Saturday the Oilers will add 2 top 4 dmen in Ekholm and Walman. That should make quite a difference.

Badly needed win tonight...good stepping stone for playing a very good Dallas team next game.
