Attendance changes so far this season

I'm not saying Sullivan has been great for a while now. But any Pittsburgh fan who would complain about Mike Tomlin makes me wonder about their judgment of what a bad coach is. As far as I'm concerned Sully has to make chicken salad with anyone but lettuce and chicken

What? Dude Tomlin sucks too. He hasn't won a playoff game in like a decade. Sorry that Pittsburgh fans want to actually win something and not just be a .500 franchise.

Wild being down after their great start is a surprise
Isn't it all NBA Timberwolves now after their great season and multiple Wild disappointments?

Timberwolves sold out every game last year and so far this year. I don't think that's ever happened...maybe when an expansion team and a novelty long ago?

Wild never had that competition from Timberwolves in recent times, as Wolves were irrelevant for so long and drawing as few as 11,000-12,000 on some weeknights.

Wild missed playoffs, so I'm sure they lost season ticket holders, especially after the sudden Timberwolves success and good playoff run.

Walkups likely can't compensate, especially in early season even with a great start.

Looks like Kansas City Penguins are back on the menu boys!
And season tix will drop even further next year after they miss playoffs again. Nice while it lasted!

Edmonton is surprising, they allegedly sell out but still have enough room to be 6th? I would have had them in the same range as Vancouver/Toronto/Montreal

I
Their games are still being sold out, so I guess that change is the standing room only section.
No.

Saw I think as low as 16,000 this month (usually 17,000 to 18,000 plus.)

Plus, aren't some games 18,000 plus and some games over 19,000? Not sure if 19,000 is even possible anymore, as maybe seating was reduced with perhaps any offseason remodeling?

Wild has a certain sellout figure -- but I don't think I've ever seen any game there listed as that. Maybe 18,292 then 18,555 then 18,094 then 17,654, etc. I think only 16,000 recently.

Most teams have a set sellout figure though a few don't, as maybe some arenas offer standing room and others don't?

...

Panthers this year have ranged between 17,000 and 19,000 plus... but I think capacity is 17,000 plus...so it allows standing room?

5 Cups and almost 40 years of near uninterrupted generational talent and they are leaving in droves in Pittsburgh. Wish I could say I'm surprised

Not sure why anyone would pay to watch the Pens this year. You’re likely seeing a loss, it’ll just be sad, why on earth is it on fans to pay money for a bad product?

Pittsburgh will be interesting. You see a noticeable drop in these numbers already and that is with Crosby and Malkin still there.

Makes you wonder where they are headed after this Crosby era winds up. They have almost always had a generational star in that franchise, and for the brief windows that they have not, it's been an unstable franchise.

It made sense to go to a game in the 90’s or before. Now, with todays tv technology and streaming and replays, not to mention the million other things you can do or watch cause of technology I just don’t see the appeal of going to a game unless it’s playoffs.

In Toronto the arena is quieter and safer than the libraries here nowadays so it seems like a good place to do some reading.

Panther fans stopped showing up while we had that shitbag owner who couldn’t get out of his own way, no one listened when I said the barn would fill up if we ever started winning.

While I don’t blame you to a degree, Sid is still a PPG player busting his ass and you had decades of amazing talent. The fact is, that town is a fair weather town. Most are.

Oh I’m not a Pens fan, just a fan of not giving bad ownership/management a dime.

At the same time, if someone wants to spend their $ watching Crosby and Malkin try I wouldn’t judge.

I mean, it's an attendance drop of 750 assuming it's roughly 15k average.
It's still a drop, which surprised me.
As already beaten to death, likely thanks to the Dodgers hangover in October

why do people in Columbus continue to support lmao
It's mostly fans of other teams invading their barn 😂

The Steelers' talent has been crap just barely hanging on to whatever relevance for most of that time. The fact they have even seen the playoffs is a testament to the miracles Tomlin has done. Dude hasn't had a losing season yet. Normal teams bottom out and are lucky to even win 4 games a year. You guys want to do that AND win freaking playoff games while doing it. Uh uh. Win 4 games in a season and tell me what suffering is. Steeler fan lives on a different planet. Every team deals with that and I don't think Pittsburgh has since Cowher showed up. Tomlin deserves a statue for putting that off for this long

That's true. However, ticket pricing and strategy of the NHL franchises doesn't exactly inspire soccer style 'through thick and thin' fan loyalty.
True, but Florida pricing was at the bottom and they couldn’t sell tickets but they’ve sold out as prices have gone up. Winning is the formula, it’s not always possible, but it should take longer than it has in Pittsburgh for fans to dip.

I know that you aren’t, but I forget who you root for at times.

God I hate Penguins fans. What a Pampered fan base

Yeah we’re real spoiled alright, having to watch a cluelessly outdated Mike Sullivan pathetically jam square pegs into round holes night after night behind the bench for years now.

All with zero threat of getting canned.

If ownership doesn’t care, why should we??

I too am surprised people don’t pay money for a shit product when they have entertainment alternatives.

Pens and Caps coulda been relocated in the past. Arizona sold out and white out their arena in the playoffs when they were decent, then ended up relocated after ownership and management squandered any goodwill.

I love the Bolts, but if they go through a protracted dark period I suspect the fans will stop showing up, especially if other local teams look good.
