LEAFS GDT Atlantic Division - Race to the 1st

Agreed. That's why losing to SJ pissed me off so much. Some people were saying oh we were tired, 3rd game in 4 nights. I say f*** that, look at the way FLA played last night. Also 3rd game in 4 nights, plus they played the night before, plus they have key players out, I can't say enough about how impressed I was with FLA last night and how badly I do NOT want to face them in the 1st round. And if we do face them and we miss 1st place by 1 point, I'll think back to that game we lost to SJ once again ...

1- They are different in term of emotionnal thing playing florida and SJ

2- Florida lost 3 to habs
need ot to beat utah
need SO to beat pittsburgh ( probably at bad than SJ game)
win in ot vs cbs
lost to NYI
lost to Boston
lost to washington

resume of last 11 florida game...4 win 7 lost and their only regulation win was vs toronto

Do you really want to take Florida as exemple for a team to show up when they only showed up game vs leafs?!?!?!

Now do since Feb 1 and let’s see what the goals per line look like. I could be wrong but I think they’d be a lot more even

Are we watching the same Leafs games? :wg:

ICYMI

Nobody in the entire NHL has more goals than John Tavares since the 4 Nations Tournament.

JT has scored 14 goals in his last 16 games. :)

FWIW : Marner has 6 goals and Matthews has 8 goals in last 16 games for 14 goals combined.

Willy has 8 goals + McMann 3 goals >> Knies with 4 goals.

Its not really close at all.

Now do games in which the wind blew over 10mph in the direction of the home rink.

They're also playing without their best Dman and best forward. Anyhow, Florida or no Florida, my main point is that tiredness is no excuse for losing to SJ, especially this late in the season battling for 1st place and no, "emotionnal thing" is no excuse either.

7 games left for each team

TOR - 96
TB - 93
FLA - 92

Looks good for us
So far it's playing out pretty much as I expected. End of season order should remain Toronto/Tampa/Florida. Barring an Ottawa stumble and Montreal continuing to win, it will Leafs/Ottawa in the first round. Depending on injuries, I think that one goes 5 or 6 games.

7 games left and a 3 point lead.

This is where the Leafs get a legitimate early playoff start. 7 games left and they have the standings entire in their hands. Finish strong and slay the dragon, get home ice and roll into the playoffs with the same killer "must win" mentality.

Far better than unimportant games down the stretch.

If the Leafs win 4 games, that seems like a steep slope for the other teams.
If we go 4-3-0 that'll be 104 points. To match this, TB will have to go 5-1-1 and FLA will have to go 6-1-0

That's not even including that we currently have the tie-breakers on both TB and FLA. In FLA's case especially, they would have to go 6-0-1 as they realistically won't overtake us in RW

That's an uncharacteristically pessimistic prediction.

You don't think we can make it to 7 games this year?

1-Florida best d is Forsling, not Ekblad

2- Ekblad missed less than 20 game once in the last 5 years... Nothing new for Florida... They lost Ekblad but bring in Jones... They lost Tlachuk but bring in Marchand ( okay he just came back from injury sunce 4 games). So for me even with those 2 injury, not enough to explain anything

3- i'm personally prefer see leafs losing vs SJ but beating florida and tampa than winning vs SJ but losing their game against both florida team.

None of these regular season games mean anything. There have been years where the Leafs dominated Boston in the regular season and then lost in the playoffs. What matters in winning the division is that the leafs have given themselves an easier opponent in the first round, and home ice in at least the second round. For now, the goal should be to finish ahead of Carolina so that you can have home ice in the conference final if Carolina advances.

Well easier opponent on paper. We don't know what the hell's gonna go on until the puck drops, if we lose to Ottawa's rebuild in the playoffs that is gonna be a new all time low.

I'd personally prefer the Leafs beating SJ then losing to SJ.

We'll whoop Ottawa.

Underdogs in round two but if we break free we'll get to the finals.

Most likely underdogs in the finals.
