Have you guys ever met in person?
I've hung out with former ATD GM Velociraptor on two different occasions, and his sister used to be a coworker. This is the only in person ATD encounter I know of (outside of people who already knew each other like Hobs and his grandfather) but I'm sure there have been others, especially in the Toronto or Montreal area.

I've never met Tony D, but I do stay at a cottage that's just outside the town he lives in maybe once a year.

Edit: forgot about Habsfan and 70s, which I did know about.

Larry Murphy to reunite the Cup winning pairing with Lidstrom.

One of my favorite Penguins as a youngster, largely because one of our neighbors was named Larry Murphy lol.

But having re-watched a lot of those Pens teams from the early/mid 90's (mainly playoff runs) as a more astute hockey person in my 30's/40's, he was an absolute gamer. Honestly, reminds me a lot of Ronnie Francis, just playing the blueline. Wasn't an absolute standout in any one area but strong across the board. Smart, smart player.

The only ATDer/HoHer I've met in person is seventieslord. He and I spent a hockey nerd weekend together in 2023 while attending the SIHR meetings in Mississauga. We caught a Leafs vs Tampa playoff game live, hit up about 15 used book stores, visited the Hockey Hall of Fame, got a personal tour of the Hall's resource center with SIHR, spent a few hours at the largest hockey card/memorabilia expo in Canada, and visited with Brian Costello (The Hockey News) at his home for an afternoon while we watched some playoff hockey. He was on the bus when the Swift Current Broncos tragically crashed in 1986, and he showed us an actual hockey stick from the wreckage. It was surreal..

Oh, and we had a little NHL 94 Sega Genesis tournament in the hotel room lol he's good!

Would love to meet other ATDers some day.

The Otawa 67’s are pleased to select, from Balachikha, Russia, the Russian leading scorer of the Summit Series, the Big Yak, Alexander Yakushev.

Yeah.

I thought maybe I could go to The Falls in November of last year, but then my patient sustained that major Lower Body Injury- so that ended that flight-of-fancy.

Don't know where @TheDevilMadeMe hikes- but I DO have trekking poles & saddle bags-- so maybe I wouldn't disgrace myself too badly.

My main thing is cycling- so any denizen of the mid-Atlantic willing to go for a spin has the option of reaching out.

However, as my former co-worker said- we have to emerge from this latest Ice-Age first, though.

There is a beauty in announcing excellent player after excellent player after excellent player, in era after era after era.

Three Rivers wanted to ensure we had a strong playmaking winger (won an assist title and finished top 10 3 other times) who wasn't afraid to throw his body around in the offensive zone to pair with Russell Bowie on the 2nd line and we feel the value warranted moving up a few spots given he hasn't gone this low in years.

This wrecking ball has very strong even strength scoring, especially for this stage of the draft.

He brings a ton of playoff experience (something Bowie lacked) and winning to the table w/189 games played and 147 points, playing on 3 Cup winners, with 3 different teams over a 22 year career.

We're pleased to select:

A player I learned to appreciate.

A rare combo of physicality, defense and clutch scoring on the LW.

Absolutely. Not ATD related, but an unbelievable person too.

I met up with his daughter Gayle shortly before she passed a few years ago to interview her about Baldy. And by all accounts he was just an amazing man. Gayle was both blind and deaf, and shortly before Baldy died in the 1980s at the age of 78, he sort of knew he was on the way out soon, so he got an apartment set up for Gayle to live in with all the things to make it accessible for someone like Gayle to live comfortably for a long-time. She was still living in the same apartment when I met her at her place!

Here is Gayle pictured with a replica Montreal Maroons 1935 Stanley Cup ring that I gifted her on the visit!
