If every trade is going to be like this, then why did we vote to allow trades in the first place!!

When you trade up for your 2nd round pick, how about trading down for your 3rd or 4th round pick, instead of a random late pick, just to confuse people?

Pay the price.

You're the one keeping coming back after embarrassing yourself since Day 1 around here with your insane behavior. You need us a whole lot more than we need you.

What the **** are you talking about? Do you have the right guy??

I think we are all just patiently waiting for your yearly "I'm leaving HF and never doing ATD again" speech to happen at some point. Can't wait to see it again.

First trade and we're into hot water. Ugh. I said it the trade thread, but I think the original deal that was posted is more in line w/what would be fair market value for a move up a few spots now. Just my .02 having done a lot of these before.

137 to 93 jump to give up 4 picks in the 2nd round is fair to you?

I love aggressive assholes like you, does the hands good to break them in.

At first you thought I was doing the robbing and now I'm the one getting robbed??

I'm actually getting a little confused now, so my apologies haha.

Yeah, I thought you were the other guy in the trade. This is even worse.

OTOH, hot water is pleasant in the winter cold.

Having looked at the last 10+ years of ATD results, there are a couple trends that jump out. The one that I'll cite here is that having a legit #1 D is pretty darn important. Since we've already seen 9 D go (and we are in a 20 team draft), I probably need to fill that spot here. And who better than a RHS who can bring offense, defense, and sandpaper?

I have some time before the patient goes to therapy, so I thought I'd check in.
Some of these recent posts are why I've always been against trades.

Considered Fetisov with my last pick. Was close between him and Big Bird.
Yeah.

Re: picks 20-21, so many ways this could have gone- Slava-Ovi, Bird-Flower, and Slava-Undrafted.

Slava-Undrafted has been tried more than once, and has tended to go down in flames, so I can see one would take a pass at that one. Also (relevant to Bird-Flower), it seems that too little credit is given to "back-to-front" chemistry (and even side-by-side chemistry doesn't pay off the way I think it should amongst the electorate, IMO)... so I get Jágr here.

Gotta think that absent intervention, Ovy would have gone no later than 27, so if heart is set on him, had to move up.

C.F.: nabby 2025 w/ht18 2024

nabby: McDavid-Ovechkin-64-93-108-133
ht18: Lafleur-Ovechkin-69-70-115-116

Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk selects the soon-to-be greatest goal scorer of all time in Alexander Ovechkin, LW.

I'm sure McDavid will be able to slide a few passes over to Ovie. :dunno:

Thought long and hard when it came to Lafleur, Ovie and another winger. But the Habs fan in me had to go Guy, plus I liked the fit better for my team in terms of what I hope to build. Still, Ovie is a great pick here and I like the fit with McDavid. I think it was worth the trade-up for you.

Great pick here too. Can never go wrong with Chelios in this range. I love what he brings, and that's a very solid 1-2 punch with Morenz and Chelios as your building blocks.

For the most part I agree that a top end #1 D is incredibly important in the ATD, but certain situations I think you can make a case for it being a bit less important. You have to roll with it and I know it's never ideal, but at least in my case with Hasek I didn't feel it necessary to go D right after. In that situation I think it affords you the option of waiting a bit but others may feel differently. I don't think I've ever not gone D with at least one of my first two picks. But as to your overall message, yes, a legit #1 D may arguably be the most important piece to most championship teams.

If you want to make a Mt. Rushmore of complete hockey players, you'd be very hard pressed to not include this man.

Fantastic playmaker and relentless forechecker in the offensive zone while also being regarded as elite defensively, capable of playing big minutes on the PK, meaning he can be put put into any game situation with confidence. He was incredible in the dot and brought intimidation in an era when it was highly sought after. You put the C on his sweater and know players will rally behind him due to his effort alone.

Another 1st for me in the ATD, easily my favorite Flyer (weird saying that as a man who's entire family hails from Pittsburgh dating back over 100 years now haha) of all time, Three Rivers is proud to select:

Bobby Clarke, C

I considered Clarke again simply because I f***ing LOVE what he brings in the ATD. He and Mess are two of my favourites to build around.
I was thinking long and hard about building around those two.

If he was still on the board in a couple of picks, I think I would've tried it out.
