I will take Jeremy Roenick, C

There are still a lot of super talented centers left on the board, but for a third line, I want JR Superstar, who on top of his immense finesse ability, hit like a mofo and hit a lot, despite his slight frame.

Also a guy with insane star power in the early nineties which seems to have faded as the inevitable injuries arose given his style of play and the era, along with being overshadowed by his media stuff.

At his zenith though, despite having his numbers suppressed a bit being on Chicago at the time with their style, I think he was better than most of those who had better numbers than him, and this was certainly the regard he was held in widely.

plus he gets to play with his linemate from his best years Larmer on Seattle

Hockey Digest had player rankings the few years before The Hockey News started theirs in 1993-1994. Roenick does real good for a bit

  • after 1991-1992, rated second best center after Lemieux
  • after 1992-1993, rated third best center after Lemieux and undrafted

Chicago are very happy to trade up for an elite shutdown/defensive winger!
Chicago selects Marty Pavelich, LW

*One of only 5 players to be on all 4 of Detroit’s Cup winning teams of the 1950’s (Howe, Lindsay, Kelly, Pronovost).

*5 Consecutive Retro Selkes awarded by Ulitmate Hockey: 1952-53 to 1956-57

*Held Rocket Richard Pointless for an Entire Playoff Series!

*Went an entire Cup Winning playoff year without being on the ice for a single ES goal against!

I've said it before, but just a fascinating piece from an ATD perspective. Power play point man, aggressive penalty killer, occasionally played defense at even strength (though you'd never line him up there). Excellent winger defense but not really a "hard to play against" shut down guy. Seems to be loved by his teammates but gets into drama with the media far too frequently. Seems to care a lot but is pretty crap in the playoffs.

I can't imagine there's anyone else like that.
