ATD2025 Draft Thread Part II

MacKay was 2nd on my shortlist if I couldn't pick Pitre to re-unite with Newsy.

I'm glad he's gone now or else my 3rd line plans would have to be altered majorly to build around him.

Savannah selects HHOF left-side defenseman Hap Day, who captained the Leafs for 10 years from 1928. Over the next 5 year span he was 3rd in NHL blueline scoring in the regular season and 1st in playoff scoring, winning the Stanley Cup in 1932. Over the 10 years of his captaincy, he was 2nd in NHL blueline playoff scoring (to teammate King Clancy).

Defensively he was a genius. He was a masterful stick checker and positional player, and, along with the New York Rangers Ching Johnson, was the league's top body checker. Day was very well respected around the league.

Gold medal is not really something that should be asked from Barkov either. Have you seen Finnish D especially without heiskanen :)
I hadn’t realized how not-good their defense was considering they had went through a brief golden generation after winning world juniors since the last World Cup.

this 4 Nations all-star game tourney

... ain't a Canada Cup or World Cup..

but they played like it.

256. rmartin65 - Quebec HC - ON THE CLOCK (4 hours, 50 minutes remaining)

257. spitsfan24 - Windsor Spitfires
258. Habsfan18 - Baltimore Clippers
259. jigglysquishy - Regina Capitals
260. Voight - Odessa Jackalopes

I don't usually like drafting coaches this early, but I think the fit here is too good to pass up.

The Windsor Spitfires are proud to select Anatoly Tarasov.

Beyond the obvious Russian factor, a guy like Niedermayer will also thrive under someone that is so big on his players exhibiting teamwork and skating ability.

I can go more in-depth if anybody would like to hear more about the fit at some point.

Will PM next.

Baltimore is very pleased to add one of hockey's all-time greatest pests/shadows (Howe and Richard HATED this guy) and an excellent penalty killer. He was a top notch defensive player in his era and also one of its speediest, and although he won't be expected to provide a whole lot of offense at the ATD level, he has shown he can chip in from time to time with seasons of 27, 24 and 19 goals in the mid to late 40's.

A relentless checker who played a very physical brand of hockey, Leswick will pair with Patrice Bergeron both on PK1 and the 3rd line to create a miserable duo to match up against. Also an added bonus in that he gives the Clippers additional flexibility by being able to play on either wing.
