Guess I’ll finish off my second line with a feisty playmaking forward named Claude Giroux.

One of these drafts, I'll draft a team that actually has a use for Giroux. I don't think he's that far behind Stamkos, and shouldn't he be considered LW eligible by now?

Easily.

His best offensive season and only postseason AS nod is at LW. He's been there exclusively for 3.5 years now.

17-18 and 18-19 helped his ES scoring number as well.

Scotty Bowman, coach

"When the puck is dropped, there has never been anyone who could run a bench better than Scotty," Toronto general manager Cliff Fletcher, an assistant general manager in St. Louis during the Bowman years, once said. "He was always-three or four moves ahead of the opposition. So his players knew they only had to be as good as the other team. Scotty would make the difference."

Good fit for your team.

Once again I get my favourite: Al Arbour, coach

"His ability to game plan and get the most out of his players was second to none. Apart from developing the Islanders from also-rans to a dynasty with 4 straight Stanley Cup wins and 5 straight finals appearances, he upset a possible dynasty coached by Scotty Bowman and featuring a big 4 player in Mario Lemieux. And he did it without his first line center!" -- Me.

(sorry @overpass, poking fun at you but I really like all the quotes you have put in your roster thread!)

(Disclaimer in the interest of transparency- I have Stamkos, so I have a vested interest in Stamkos looking better than Giroux)

I can't really see that. Outside of VsX, I think Stamkos is ahead of Giroux by a fair amount- in the years they overlapped at C (throwing out their rookie seasons, so 09-10 through 16-17), Stamkos finished ahead of Giroux in AS voting in every year he wasn't injured for a significant portion of the season (13-14 and 16-17). Add in 2 Richards, and I think Stamkos is comfortably ahead. They are close in VsX, but that looks to be about it.

Lol I'm not above getting my own opinions in either...see Mike Bossy.

I would have been happy to get Arbour to coach my team too.

Stamkos is better, but it’s pretty close. He’s a much better goal scorer, but Giroux is better at pretty much everything else, right?

His last year at RW, he was 11th in points and 8th in assists. Yeah, it was the position that he did the least, but he became pretty good there.

Billy said thst the last season he was "listed" at RW, he actually played mainly C. This is all from memory, but Billy was not a fan of. Giroux at RW.

I'm not going to bother researching into it further at the moment though.

Giroux would have been a good fit for my team. Too bad.

I don't accept Giroux at RW. At LW yes.

Giroux has no business at RW in this. I outlined this above but apparently nobody read it.

He's a C/LW. I was the one who pushed his transfer out to LW and asked the mods on the Flyers board for specific breakdowns of his positional play. He's been a LW dating back to before 2017-18, which was his best offensive season to date. He followed that up with 85 points in 18-19.

He's very good in the dot which adds to his value. He can play LW and still take draws if you have a C who is weak there.

Also,

I'm sick of seeing people bitch about the clock. Please knock it off.

It's the same routine every year. We know the rules, and while it does get frustrating at times, there is absolutely no point in beating a dead horse.

Next year, before the draft, we can discuss the clock structure and vote on any potential changes.

Beyond that, you're waiting 8 hours and in less than a week it'll be 6. Worst case. There are larger horrors in life.
