Has he really gained that much in a year? Last time I looked at him closely, there were a few undrafteds better (I obviously can't talk about them now).

(By "any" D, you basically mean Savard and Lapointe?)

I will listen to your arguements when those undrafteds are picked (and probably laugh). Chara's resume has quickly become borderline Pronger area - 6 times either 1st or 2nd teamer and just like Dreak said, he's been dominating and terrifying the NHL since 2002.

He also brings that unique 6'9'' frame that you just can't find anywhere else.

We take Aurel Joliat, LW.

Dreak, can you PM next?

Wow, you guys are really building that team around Morenz. Starting with his linemate and the man who ended his career.

Now you just have to trade for his son-in-law.

It would be nice to add some muscle on the right, but despite their smaller statures, both Morenz and Joliat were very tough. They definately don't need protection.

Plus with Seibert in the back-end, no one's gonna be messing with people I have a feeling.

Morenz is average size adjusted I think, but Joliat is tiny at any era. You may have a huge scary dude in Seibert, but Aurel could still get tossed around in the corners even if he's a gamer.

Agree with this sentiment sorta ...

... but not so fast. Don't confuse toughness with size. Even era-adjusted, Joliat was tiny. You're still going to need some help to protect your tough-but-not-big forwards from guys like Gordie Howe and Larry Robinson. Match Morenz and Joliat with a 5'6" RW at your own risk ...

From what I read, Joliat would get tossed around but would then toss the other player around. I wouldnt worry too much.

Maybe against other small humans from the 20's and 30's - but we're covering all times in this league. Match him against Stevens, Robinson, Chara etc. in a playoff round see what happens.

It's up to Vec and Dreak to build that line, I would just advocate a little muscle to finish it off, thats all.

Adjusting for era, Joliat would be close to 6' and about 180 lbs. He'd be one of the lighter guys in the league today, but not really tiny.

His era had small guys like Earl Seibert, who walked around at 6'2" and 220 lbs.... or Sprague Cleghorn, Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper, and many other guys who pushed the 200 pound range.

He did crush Eddie Shore, you know?

So did Cleghorn's 10-year pairingmate. :naughty:

Here is Eddie Shore being carried off of the ice:

Shore was an alpha dog during a rough and tumble era. He got as good as he gave.

Now I'm laughing. :)

Obvious pick.

Because of where picks usually fall, I think Morenz and Joliat are the second most reunited linemates ever Gretzky and Kurri.
