If the Leafs would have scored 1 more goal we would have won and their goalie would have had a great save percentage. Both things can happen in the same game.
Our support players have carried their weight, our goalies have been very good but we have 33 million dollars worth of 3 players producing nothing.
That is a big problem
Yeah even if Leafs won 2-1 or 3-2 , Rangers goalie would have been labeled as playing elite and outstanding. Leafs dominated. Looked like a stanley cup contender asking an ECHL team to come help them practice.

The fact the 2-1 goal never came leaves room open to consider bad shot selection existed as well. Again, Panarin scooping that into a sniper location for the win after playing trash all game is a good example. The scoresheet will dictate who wins at the end of the day.

With that said this game was still a good indication that Leafs will more or less sleep through the regular season most nights.

I’m not looking to complain, I’m looking to win.
I acknowledge they have an elite goalie but we have 4 elite forwards that can’t get the job done so often against elite or good goalies

..and yet complain is mostly what you do here. You’d think we were the Sabres or something. Criticism is fine, when balanced, but when it’s the only Schtick….

Before the season, if you told me we were 2-1-1 and Marner, Tavares, and Matthews had ZERO goals, I'd say how. Give the boys some time with this lineup, including Ritchie next to the big two. Our puck luck will change soon, our offence is just too good. Muzzin and Holl though are really poor right now.

I agree! We've looked fine. The goals will come and so will wins. Ritchie just hasn't looked good at all though.

maybe stick ritchie on the kampf case line for a full cycle line that can control possession, those types of lines are important.
/shrug

If we were outshot 2 to 1, people would be pissed even if we won. lol!

My balance will come when they start to,progress as a team and the guys taking all the money on this team start to,actually produce some success.
I can’t believe that more poster are not fed up with the last 5 years of failure with this core and management.
Even you must be to some extent sick of this same nonsense excuse year after year. I’m assuming you are a long time fan as well

I'll just admit it.

This team has a finishing problem.

The playoffs confirm it. They deserve no benefit of the doubt.

They can’t finish…….what don’t people get about that.

There's a lot to like from tonight. One thing I'd like to see them clean up that I think will lead to more goals scored is when they're buzzing around they like the circle around the net and cycle the puck. My observation is this puts the puck carrier at weird angles to the net, often with their back turned or with a defender in between, so when they finally make a shot attempt they're not always clean looks. If they can use the point guys to reload and then funnel guys from the side wall in short vectors at the net, maybe they can back off a defender and get some more straight line shot attempts. I need one of those white boards to explain better.

If it turns out Dubas isn't actually the center of the Universe destined to win a cup with every friend he's ever had...we're screwed.

We just absolutely dominated them and you're talking about how it won't work in the playoffs lmao. Get a grip.
Do you guys know what you're saying? "The Leafs played great, so amazing"... AND IT STILL WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN.

The Leafs best isn't good enough. And against NYR on top of it.

No it’s based on what is actually happening. We have lost so many game where posters say we dominated……the reason we lost was because we couldn’t put the puck in the net

We’ve been a good offensive team since Matthews joined, then became an elite one. It sucks when they don’t go in, but come on a lack of scoring hasn’t been our problem.

I've said it for awhile that Dubas is not cutthroat enough for this league.

He honestly seems like a genuinely good person, no doubt about it. But you need to be almost sociopathic to a degree to succeed in this business.
