Player Discussion Artem Zub (D) Part 2 [Extended 4 years @ $4.6M]

We need a third pairing RD who can be serviceable when moved into the top 4. With Zub’s injury history and Jensen getting older, it’s likely that player will need to play 25+ games in the top 4 next season.
I agree & isn't that player Yakemchuk? Jensen has another yr on his contract which give Yakemchuk a yr in Belleville which I assume after a yr he should be NHL ready or close. He doesn't need to get bigger, he already has NHL size & offence & should spend a yr in Belleville improving his reads & defensive play. Ott also has Guennette in Belleville another RD & together could be the future replacement of both Zub & Jensen at some point & defensive depth. I expect that Guennette could be the first one called up & later in the yr Yak. Also not sure what they will do with Gilbert LD who is a left shot & whether they re-sign him as the 7th D for next season since they traded for him. Should be interesting.

He also hits hard and clears guys away from Ullmark before and after the whistle. No fanfair, just straight arms guys.

A healthy Zub is a solid defender with a grumpy demeanour.

Hi All, tis the season for fantasy. Where is Zub slotting next year and the year after?

Right next to Jake Sanderson.

Unless Yakemchuk rockets up the depth chart. But best case scenario I think that takes at least a year or two to happen.

The only possible issue is that Nick Jensen is already 34 years old and is coming off surgery that will likely keep him out of training camp. He doesn't have a lot of time left in the league as it is so it's possible Staios goes hunting for a replacement. If that happens it's possible Zub gets bumped down to play with Chabot. But who knows.
