on paper i'd say that sj looks better. but not on the ice

edit: double josi!!
2-0

I would argue against that seeing that they lost Pavelski, and all they did was bring back a washed up Marleau, and their goaltending still looks shaky.

Lot of aging vets and Jones as their goalie.

I still see them battling for a playoff spot though but would be ecstatic for an unprotected lottery pick

Don't be that guy. At the end of the season whatever happens, happens.

If it was any other team but the sharks, I'd agree. But the way their fans behaved in last year's playoffs, f*** em. They deserve all the bad karma.

Lots of people around these parts were very quick to be offended by Avs fans doing the same and said they'd never do such a thing. I'm sure there's already a few hypocrites after 3 whole games for the Sharks.

We can be happy about it without having to make a thread about it, then make a website about it, then start celebrating injuries, and directly antagonizing Sharks fans.

Because we're not shitbags like Avs fans.

f*** the Avs. I didn’t hear/read much from Sharks fans after the EK trade tbh.

Our scouting staff has legitimately been one of the best in the league the last 10YRs at finding and developing talent, but one clear weakness they have is their tendency to pass on players with more skill and upside for high character guys that play mature two-way games.

Lazar over Mantha
White over Boeser/Konecny
Bowers over Robertson/Tolvanen
Pinto over Kaliyev/Brink

Silfverberg and Formenton could conceivably be lumped in with them too, but at least with those guys they had an elite projectable skill (shot for Silf, speed for Formenton), whereas the other guys are your typical well-rounded player with no outstanding skills, which tends to very rarely result in high-end players (steals).

And before people jump on me, unlike the other guys White wasn't a bad pick, but I felt there were players with more upside left on the board that we passed on to make the "safe pick".

Zibanejad was the exception to the rule. Would have expected them to take the safer bet in Couturier, who up until recently would have been considered the better pick.

That's kinda the point....going for the safe picks gives you a "better" drafting record. You will have more guys make the NHL. The downside is, most won't be game-breakers,a nd many will flame out ofter a few seasons.

That's why a lot of the good drafting team vs bad drafting team is smoke and mirrors. You can easily pad the stats with safe picks. It's the teams that take the riskier guys and put a lot of resources into giving them the best chance at developing to their potential that are the true masters at the draft. And that's mostly where Ottawa falls....we've hardly ever provided a top notch AHL (and ECHL) affiliate and top coaching (and trainers) for kids.

Sharks will play better, and the odds for a high pick drops off quickly. It's not as if the Melnyk's Sens are in a position to take advantage of high picks anyways.

Sharks need to pick it up because you can miss the playoffs with this kind of start.

Too early to count out the sharks they have a ton of talent . A few guys get hot and they can go on a roll

What was especially shitty about Colorado fans was that they were actively celebrating our players getting injured. Lets just try to be better than that at least.

Is it just me or is our schedule like the worst again? Do we ever play again?

After long playoff run will take them a while to get going. It may gen cost the coach his job Dabeers is on the hot seat. Sharks will make the playoffs but they will not finish near too of their division they will stumble in and barring injuries I am not sure how far they go. They need some young speed in that lineup.

There's nothing wrong with wanting the Sharks to crash and burn. Some of y'all can't differentiate with commenting on their record and making a thread dedicated to their demise, including wishing injury. There's none of that on the board.

All I see is one thing, I look at the two teams at the bottom of the standings and we have both their picks this year
