Didn't know where to put this so I figured I would use this thread. Here guys Rangers fans I am curious as to what style defense your team plays? Strahlman seems to me to be the only palatable defender potentially hitting fa this year to me and I was curious if he would be compatable to what the wings play.

Thanks to any and all who reply to me and good luck in the finals.

Stralman would be a fantastic signing for Detroit. 27-year-old RH 2nd pairing defenseman. Throw big hits, good puck mover, very solid defensively. He'd fit like a glove as a Red Wing. Kronwall-Stralman I think would be a nice pairing.

#Isles have acquired rights to D Dan Boyle from the Sharks for a conditional 2015 5th-round pick. Becomes a 4th if Boyle signs.

soooo if Boyle signs, they have Visnovsky AND Boyle. hm.

I hope they sign him to some ridiculous over-payment and he ends up sucking.

Was thinking the same thing. He's a great fit for Detroit. I hope they don't get him. :)

Does your team play man vs man in the d-zone? Or do they play a type of zone? Don't watch your team much so I'm asking.

I would take Dan Boyle in a heart beat. Obviously at a reasonable price.
Despite his age he is still better than 2/3 of this league's defensemen.

He's a 3rd pairing PP specialist at this point...

(GP - G - A - P)
2009–10 San Jose Sharks NHL 76 15 43 58
2010–11 San Jose Sharks NHL 76 9 41 50
2011–12 San Jose Sharks NHL 81 9 39 48
2012–13 San Jose Sharks NHL 46 7 13 20
2013–14 San Jose Sharks NHL 75 12 24 36

Yes, what a 3rd pairing scrub :shakehead

Even if he was a 3rd pairing PP specialist. He would help our god awful PP dramatically.

Yes, posting a defenseman's goal/point totals is a good way to determine what role they are capable of filling.

Here are some stats:

He had the fifth worst relative Corsi and the worst Corsi Rel QoC amongst Sharks defenseman despite starting more shifts in the offensive zone than any other Sharks defenseman.

Tied for 60th in ES scoring among defenseman.

Tied for 18th in PP scoring among defenseman (the Sharks PP was also 20th in the league with him QBing it, which is worse than the Rangers did on the PP, so...)

He is also 37 and has, for anyone who watched/followed the Sharks this year, clearly lost a step. Proclaiming him as better than 2/3 of the league's defenseman is just silly at this point in his career.

McKenzie is reporting Jim Rutherford will be the Penguins GM. He stepped down in Carolina for Francis only to resurface in Pittsburgh.

^ I'm noticing a decline each year. And that's with the Sharks, not the ****** Isles.

He's certainly not what he once was. They're not getting the Dan Boyle they seem to have reacted to. Guy is a mediocre player at best these days.

Yeah you obviously don't watch the Sharks.

Shouldn't play more than 18 minutes a night. Not too hard to put up those numbers on a really good Sharks team.

He can run a PP but can't do anything else.
