Lame? Those teams apparently know how to build a team that consistently be in the hunt for the Cup. Pittsburgh is not among them, they get players handed on a silver platter and a baboon would build a winning franchise as a GM or coach there.

Chicago-Boston would be my fav. final

That's all fine and dandy, but I'd rather see the Sharks in the Finals than the Kings again.

Yes but that's just favoritism for the underdog, nothing more, nothing less. Sharks haven't won the Cup yet, so people want them to win it. Same went for LA last year.

In both conferences, the most consistent teams made it to the finals, end of story.

I know they're the best teams, I just happen to dislike all of them.

Again, a result of the success. Teams like Detroit, Pittsburgh, Boston, Chicago, LA and Montreal are disliked because they are either very successful lately or one of the most successful teams ever. Only the teams' fans feel different. It's like that in any sport.

NFL: New England, Pittsburgh, SF, Green Bay
NBA: Chicago, LA, Miami, Boston
Football: Barcelona, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Man Utd

I would also have preferred conference finals with Toronto playing NYR and Anaheim playing San Jose. Maybe next year.

 Sure. Something that hasn't happened since the 40s, and even then it was the only time in all NHL history, is a sign of things to come.
But when it happened then, the same six teams won the Stanley Cup for the next 30 years...

Everyone loves Detroit, because they're a model franchise. Pittsburgh and LA tanked. Bruins and Hawks at least drafted well, alongside their tanking

I like the Red Wings and Montreal. I have my own reasons for disliking LA and Boston. I'm not saying they're not great match-ups, I just wish they could all lose.

I am not sure why there is an obsession against tanking teams. It's a perfectly fine way to construct a roster and probably the most efficient way in doing so.

Besides, the Hawks had 2 top 5 picks in Kane and Toews while the Kings also had 2 top 5 picks in Schenn and Doughty. They both rebuilt their teams through the trade and trading for uncanny veterans to surround the youth. LAK has also drafted well. Quick, Brown, Kopitar, Voynov, Muzzin, Clifford, Martinez, Bernier and Lewis drafted and developed outside of the top 5. They managed to grab 2 elite players in that group and two of first line forward/1st pair dman.

Because **** them, that's why. Obviously it makes sense to tank- doesn't make it any less reprehensible. Pittsburgh deserves no success after tanking for three top picks. Good thing MAF blows, could anybody here imagine if he was worthy of being picked where he was?

Success is not deserved, but rather earned with hard work. The Penguins, Hawks and Kings suffered through years of humiliation as basement dwellers and began to accumulate high end young prospects in that span as proper rebuilds. That's really what mediocre teams should be doing.

Throwing absurd amounts of unwarranted cash at aging veterans, now I'd say that is more reprehensible than sucking and rebuilding through the draft. IMO.

The Pens "suffered"? You mean decided to blow coincidentally in time with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin becoming draft eligible? And Mario throwing a ****ing hissy fit to get a new arena?

I'll never agree with you on this so let's just agree to disagree. The Hawks, yes. The Pens, absolutely not.

I know I'm late to this party, but Regher at 2yr, $6mil is EXACTLY the kind of contract I wanted the Rangers to sign him for. Good on the Kings. Rangers really need to explore a RD option to play with Moore on the third pairing next season (this assuming they trade Del Zotto).
