Canucks just running roughshod over the Predators on their powerplay.
Sorry, but I find the Predators to be ultra-unexciting and I can't see them going ANYwhere.
How has DZ looked?
After all the crap I read about MDZ ... I'm not seeing any of it so far.
I read that he was slow on the skates, bad defensively, didn't make good decisions with the puck.
The only positive thing I read was that he was a good tape to tape passer.
Can't really tell from one game but, he looks good to me so far.
So, I know its a small sample size but it seems like everything Rangers fans said about Del Zotto is pretty off. He didn't look out of place at all tonight and looks like he could be a really good partner for Jones. He made some great passes out there and made a few good defensive plays as well, most memorably tying up Richardson in the first.
Hopefully its a sign of good things to come.
I just now was able to turn on the game, and within 30 seconds of 1 shift I am convinced that the trade was a great one. 2 times in the same shift Del Zotto put a pass right on the forwards stick just as he was entering the zone and allowed our forward to enter the offensive zone with speed and the puck under control.
Jackets have won 8 straight. Dubinsky had 2 pts, over 70% on faceoffs, Horton scored a beauty.
If anybody is interested, I swung by the Preds board to see their reaction to DZ's first game. Here are a couple.
Jackets have won 8 straight. Dubinsky had 2 pts, over 70% on faceoffs, Horton scored a beauty.
That team is built well, however, replacing Nash @ 7.8 for Horton @ 6 is silly.
They are doing all o this without Gaborik as well.
Big, fast, strong team.
In fairness, many of us here are ******** who tend to focus on individual failures rather than the full body of a guy's play, but I do think Del Zotto will wear out his welcome in Nashville just like he did here. The expectations of him are too high for what he can actually produce game in and game out.
I don't think this is true at all.
Maybe he's inconsistent, but he's proven he can put up points and play solid defense when he's having a good year. Maybe like a Lubo Visnovsky. I think playing with a guy like Jones, and not John ****ing Moore, will really help DZ.

Whitney, a two-time NCAA champion at Boston College where he was Gerbe’s teammate, was recalled today from Albany of the AHL. He skated in practice on New Jersey’s first line alongside Jaromir Jagr and Travis Zajac, and could make his NHL debut Friday night when the Devils host the Capitals.
That opportunity alone would be eye-catching, but Whitney’s size makes it even more so. The 25-year-old left winger is listed at 5-foot-6, 170 pounds, which is actually an inch taller than Gerbe’s weigh-in numbers: 5-5, 179. But New Jersey beat writer Tom Gulitti called Whitney’s official measurements “generous,” while one scout laughed and said “no f—— chance. More like 5-4.”
