Dallas are just shredding the Leafs. 7-1 right now. Val Nichushkin the wonderkid with 2 goals, Benn with 4 points.

Ducks defense is not good. Slow. Their forwards are very speedy and help cover it up. One has to think they will be in on any good dman that becomes available.

Leafs burning up on re-entry to reality.
A truly neurotic team run a by a neurotic cash machine conglomerate.

They can look like gangbusters one night, like complete chumps the next. Bernier and Reimer held them in during their early season run to respectability, but I don't think that can be counted on to be the case now.

Canucks just running roughshod over the Predators on their powerplay.

Sorry, but I find the Predators to be ultra-unexciting and I can't see them going ANYwhere.

How has DZ looked?

Got pulled away from the game. but back now. he is wearing 18 I see from the Predators site. I am going to watch a bit more.

I'm fine with the trade, but I really liked watching MDZ when he showed confidence and seemed to be on a good trajectory with the Rangers. MDZ is the only reason I am watching, and I hope he does okay.

Dallas put this up on the jumbotron.

If anybody is interested, I swung by the Preds board to see their reaction to DZ's first game. Here are a couple.

After all the crap I read about MDZ ... I'm not seeing any of it so far.

I read that he was slow on the skates, bad defensively, didn't make good decisions with the puck.

The only positive thing I read was that he was a good tape to tape passer.

Can't really tell from one game but, he looks good to me so far.

So, I know its a small sample size but it seems like everything Rangers fans said about Del Zotto is pretty off. He didn't look out of place at all tonight and looks like he could be a really good partner for Jones. He made some great passes out there and made a few good defensive plays as well, most memorably tying up Richardson in the first.

Hopefully its a sign of good things to come.

I just now was able to turn on the game, and within 30 seconds of 1 shift I am convinced that the trade was a great one. 2 times in the same shift Del Zotto put a pass right on the forwards stick just as he was entering the zone and allowed our forward to enter the offensive zone with speed and the puck under control.

Good for DZ. I hope he succeeds to his highest potential on Nashville.

Just don't play that way against the Rangers :D.

Jackets have won 8 straight. Dubinsky had 2 pts, over 70% on faceoffs, Horton scored a beauty.

In fairness, many of us here are ******** who tend to focus on individual failures rather than the full body of a guy's play, but I do think Del Zotto will wear out his welcome in Nashville just like he did here. The expectations of him are too high for what he can actually produce game in and game out.

That team is built well, however, replacing Nash @ 7.8 for Horton @ 6 is silly.

They are doing all o this without Gaborik as well.

Big, fast, strong team.

I don't think it's silly when you consider the assets they got in return for Nash. The downgrade was well worth it. Anisimov and Dubinsky are big pieces to that team.

I don't think this is true at all.

Maybe he's inconsistent, but he's proven he can put up points and play solid defense when he's having a good year. Maybe like a Lubo Visnovsky. I think playing with a guy like Jones, and not John ****ing Moore, will really help DZ.

The Blue Jackets remind me a little of the 2010-11 Rangers. They are a solid forechecking team with a mix of young players and vets, but they are prone to inconsistency.

To me, the player that Del Zotto will be compared to going forward shouldn't be Kevin Klein, it should be John Moore. I like DZ's chances on that one :sarcasm:

Jackets are 8-0 with Horton in the lineup. Last night was their 1000 game in franchise history. The 8 game streak is a franchise record. 'The Bob' is playing like an elite goalie.

Say what you will about Horton, he makes his teams so much better and scores big goals. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a 'games played' clause in that contract because of past injury issues.

Watched Jets-Sharks last night, and no, officer Krupke was nowhere to be found. But Alex Stalock had his 2nd shutout in a row, 7-2 on the year. He was a 2005 4th rounder. Better late than never goalies, love'em, but hated to see my Jets streak end.

I personally love the Blue Jackets. If it wasn't enough to see some of our old guys there, I'm a big fan of Atkinson, Murray, Jenner. I couldn't believe Edmonton didn't take Murray and I've been waiting a while for Jenner to arrive. He's getting better with each game.

http://nhl.si.com/2014/01/23/does-the-nhl-have-a-new-shortest-player-in-new-jerseys-joe-whitney/

Whitney, a two-time NCAA champion at Boston College where he was Gerbe’s teammate, was recalled today from Albany of the AHL. He skated in practice on New Jersey’s first line alongside Jaromir Jagr and Travis Zajac, and could make his NHL debut Friday night when the Devils host the Capitals.

That opportunity alone would be eye-catching, but Whitney’s size makes it even more so. The 25-year-old left winger is listed at 5-foot-6, 170 pounds, which is actually an inch taller than Gerbe’s weigh-in numbers: 5-5, 179. But New Jersey beat writer Tom Gulitti called Whitney’s official measurements “generous,” while one scout laughed and said “no f—— chance. More like 5-4.”

It's likely he'll play us soon...

Anyone seen him play?
