Now Leafs fans can look forward to washed up players signing for bargain contracts and being somewhat useful.

Any word on the Gomez & Zubrus to Toronto rumors yet?

Yeah, this Lou Lamoriello situation seemed to come out of nowhere. It reminded me a lot of us hiring Rutherford last year. Both situations seemed like an older GM stepping away to let a younger one have the reigns but then out of nowhere the older GM jumped ship to a new team.

We couldn't come up with $1.1 million for Semin on a one year deal?

I guess burn JR once ..... he was not going there again even if Semin was paying him.

we likely didn't want him on our team. I'm glad. He has more rebounding to do than Kunitz. Between Kunitz, Dupuis, Bennett and Plotnikov, we don't need more guys who may or may not be effective NHL wings.

That is the point though. Between our consistently being one of the most injured teams in the NHL, and having a number of guys who may, or may not, bounce back, some cheap insurance would not be a bad thing. Safety in numbers.

That said, for that reason for all we know Semin turned us down. We have a lot of talent in the top six now and basically one slot open to compete for, maybe two. Semic certainly faces a lot less competition for a top six wing slot in Montreal.

Wait, where does it say Semin turned the Pens down?

Lmao at Therrien trying to use Semin though, that's going to be hilarious.

It seemed like Holtby's camp wanted 6.55m/yr, settled on 6.1m. It has to be front loaded I am guessing.

This was my first impression. Lou will be sage to Dubas for a few years before handing the reigns over.

Who, under Lou, came out of that bat **** crazy shadow to take over as a GM elsewhere?

Edit: We hate Shero, etc etc, but has anyone seen that team for prospects? If any of us thought we had a bad sitaution, look at that team and Lou had 100% control of everything there. I laugh at people thinking he's suddenly going to turn Toronto around because of his magic touch, what magic touch? He was great at turning trash into shiny bronze.

Saw the coyotes news that they got a two-year arena deal with the city. So I glanced at their team stats and saw that they make the Dick Tarnstrom era look good in comparison.

A defenseman led the Yotes in goals, assists, and points. OEL their leading point-getter with 43 (!); also led them in goals with 23, no one else had more than 15 (!). Yandle was their number two scorer who led them with 37 assists in 63 games.

Well the caps finally have their goalie it seems. Anyone got a recap on why they blew that 3-1 lead against the rangers? I pretty much just looked at box scores after the first round.

I think that's a slightly risky but otherwise pretty solid deal for Holtby. May he win regular season accolades against everyone but us, and forever lose to the Rangers in the playoffs.

You're nicer than me. I hope he ***** the bed and the caps fall apart. Ideally he would never win another game vs anyone but the Flyers.

Haha. No i like the build up of regular season success... see their confidence grow and Teddy smiling in his box. . . then watch them implode again and again against the same team in the playoffs. Preferably always losing Game 7 at home. With Teddy wiping a tear from his eye. The only thing that would make it better is if BBQ Bruce was still there, finding ways to lose.

Some people want to keep living in 2003 I guess.

I can't stop laughing at how people are saying Lou is this amazing GM. I think they need to dig deeper.

Under his guidance, who has come out to lead that team after Brodeur, Niedermayer and those guys all went out to pasture?

Adam Henrique? Adam Larsson is still a massive question mark, they had to TRADE for a #1 because the ones they had were still a big question mark, his prospect pool is weak at best, with a lot of bottom 6 filler types and not a lot of high end prospects, so I guess Shero fits right in, the work he'll do is already half done for him.

But man...Lou is not going to flip the Leafs into beasts. Those poor idiotic ********. Dubas is going to learn nothing.

I still think Shanahan handled the Kessel thing incredibly poorly too. First he wants him out, then says he'll keep him to raise value, by then, you've already shown all of your cards and we all know who the teams are that Kessel will play for, lol.
