Sid's a PR dream in that he's a robot who says the most easily digestible, predictable shit in any given interview but I think there's more beyond that, he's just a very private person. McDavid strikes me as a completely boring, no-personality dork.

f***ing hell of a player though.

The most heated thing Sid ever said was basically "I don't like anyone on the Flyers". Young Sid was still so much more personable than Mcd. While being the chillest PR guy

I remember the old all-star commercial when Ovi orders all the food to Sids room "Ovechkin!". Also the youtube vids of him golfing with Mackinnon are great, as well as his sit down with Whitney and Biz. Shit, Mackinnons interview and his stories of Sid are great to.

Who? anyone that is gone from this team no longer exists. :sarcasm:
The fact that Tolvanen got to them for free and Sprong is on the right path, Seattle is looking smart. They can definitely score.

Edit: Farabee and Cates on the board for the Flyers. Hextall picks. And his other pick Konecny has 41pts in 34 games.

My favorite example of Sid: The Has A Personality Edition since I've been watching is when the Pens' Halloween party was right before they played Philly. He went as Rocky Balboa, and when asked about it at morning skate or whatever, claimed he had no idea about the Philly/Rocky connection.

Runner up (may be bullshit, but I hope not): A guy posted about having a conversation in an airport lounge/bar that involved a lengthy discussion of pierogies and stand-up comedy; he only realized after the fact that he'd been chatting with THE Sidney Crosby.

Then there's the stick he gave to the Rags fan a couple seasons for having good chirps.

McDavid may just be very introverted (introvert here), he may have social anxiety, there are a number of things that could explain why he seems to struggle with some of the off-ice aspects of his job, including simply being Connor McDavid, playing for a storied team with a tarnished legacy, in the Edmonton fishbowl counting on him to save it.

The only glimpses of personality I've come across paint him as a bit sour and entitled, but I don't follow him all that closely, much like the people still pulling out the "Crosby is a bore/whiner" cards. I hope he ends up on another team at some point *just* to see if he shows he's a personable guy when the setting isn't sucking the life out of him.

And, just because I've been extra annoyed at the Oilers and their fans of late, I'm going to add: all McDavid is being asked to do, and no small task and not his fault, is drag the Oilers back to a Cup. The topmost picks of the 2003-2005 draft class, and Crosby and Ovenchicken in particular, were, coming out of an entire season lost to the lockout, tasked with saving the entire gd NHL.

It's simply not the same pressure on him.

I totally forgot they got that guy, guess he's doing awesome there?
He's looking better. Has a 2pt night so far. He has 5pts in 5 games with them so far.

Mcdavid seems like a douche. Sid just seems like a normal bloke.

Remember when they asked if he liked Giroux and he was like I don't like that guy or some shit? Lol.

Crosby also skated on the ice outside with some kid in the offseason in his hometown or something. Just chillin like a villian.

Sprong with his 13th and on pace for 55-60pts.

Homeboys be out there thriving away from Sully.

I think it's more Seattle is the first team to actually figure out how to use him properly.

He's not a top-6 player, he's an offensive bottom-6 winger that should be a major contributor on your powerplay. Seattle is using him exactly how he needs to be used, let him give you points and don't give him the chance to need to do any more than that.

Whatever gave you that impression about McDavid. Seems perfectly fine interacting with people. Not the least bit awkward.

Hope MAF is OK long term. Him pulling a self-Barrasso in the locker room does not seem right.

If he's not being appreciated, please bring that wonderful smile back around these parts.

Wonder if its to be in Montreal with Letang due to his fathers passing. Just a guess on my part.

Oilers losing again. Such a shame. :sarcasm:

I genuinely do not blame him here! This is old-ish, and please don't accost people in airports, flying is stressful enough!

However.

He's had several seasons to find ways to cope with being such a public figure. If his manner of coping is to put forth as little effort as possible, I get that.

Neither he nor his fans should be confused about that being off-putting to some, or that some assholes will take it as a challenge.

I do love that the Kings won this game early on the strength of their power play.

Hfb, please stop... whatever it is you're doing with clumping replies and the chaotic spacing. This website is really frustrating across four and counting browsers.

It doesn't matter what he is. He's producing and he's playing well, same for Tolvanen, McCann, etc. I think it's often lost too how much a new situation and confidence in someone goes a long way. We should know enough given Kapanen and what he battles with.

Seattle has no expectations either so that also helps. They're trying to figure themselves out right now and giving kids a chance is a great thing for both sides but also not rushing players like Wright for example being sent back, I liked that.

Sweet Jesus does Columbus suck. They apparently have a guy called Tim Berni on their team, when I quickly scanned the boxscore I thought it said Tim Brent and almost exploded.

Seattle went from being a team that had one of the worst goalie situations in the league to having fun on the ice while playing some solid hockey as well as carving out an exciting brand of hockey and identity.

I didn't think Hakstol had it in him to be honest, I really didn't. He was all over the place in Philly. I saw Leach was one of his Assistants, I remember his short time with the Pens in WBS, was hoping he'd be our head coach there before they hired that creeper.

Not a fan of the nepotism though, Mike Francis working for the Kraken, get out of here with that bullshit. He has zero experience and has a Hockey Ops Management role? BS.

It's too bad Texier decided to go back to Europe, I would have loved having him on the Pens over Heinen.

Realistically the Kraken added a ton of talent this summer. Bjorkstrand, Burky, Beniers, a healthy Schmaltz and Gourde.

I was right all along!
