The fact the trade worked out so well for us makes me really not think about him. Great player just wildly inconsistent
Yup. Id trade a Jack Eichel for an Alex Tuch any day of the week given what Tuch means to this team and city. Theyre both quite dominant in their own way, but Tuch was a big time factor in changing the culture here, imo.

Eichel would've sulked his way into the offseason after what they went through in early March. Tuch and co got their noses dirty and made it interesting. Eichel is a good fit for a veteran team that already has a culture established, but putting him on a young, rebuilding team that still has some growing pains to go through isn't something Eichel is geared to go through. He doesn't seem like a heart and soul leader like Tuch is, which this team desperately needed. The fact Tuch is a top-line power forward is the cherry on top.

I dont mind them. I actually quite like them even though Eichel is on the team.

I dont have a lot of hatred for Eichel. He's like that petty ex that Im glad I split with, and rarely ever think about. If I see that ex out or a picture of them, I have no animosity; Im just glad Ive moved onto better things.
I'm not interested in my ex going off and immediately winning the lottery.

Especially when my previous ex, we'll call her Rachel O'Reilly, already did that.

So yeah, I'll remain in dislike.

Hehe, i get it. I quite like the pettiness of sports, so hate away!

In the NFL, I'm happy for many teams to win. I became a football fan by 3 years old.

I didn't fall in love with hockey until I was 15, so for whatever reason, my approach to it is different. I only root for the Sabres. Daniel Plainview says it best for me:

See, I have a hard time rooting for most of the East. Defeats big and small, major controversies, minor slights... too many. Most of the West I can be mildly interested in seeing win.

I can find my way to hating every NHL team.

In the last 20 years, I've only ever:

-rooted specifically for the 2009-2010 Blackhawks, because Kane. (in 2010, well before anyone knew about the off ice stuff)

-ovechkin to win a cup

-that's it

The rest is Sabres success or dislike everyone.

It feels dirty to be rooting for Tampa but man Toronto getting bounced in the first as always and then probably needing to rebuild with Matthews 1 year from UFA would be a nice treat
Im starting to really despise Tampa, but my hatred for the Leafs flows so deep. It's probably why I can't despise the Knights; I only have so much hatred in my soul, and the Leafs, Flyers, and Hurricanes (though, my hatred for them has been diminishing lately) consume so much of it, haha.

My justification is that Tampa has already won 3 cups who cares, Toronto getting bounced round 1 for this entire core would be similar to the Bills going to the Super Bowl 4x without winning. It will provide meme material for 2 decades.
