Around the NHL: PTO Season Becomes Waiver Season

So much ESPN does is bad. The commercials - especially on ESPN+ - are brutal. Not sure why Subban can't wear a suit in the studio. Also why is Bucci and Weekes doing the Oilers - Kings series? Bucci is better than Leah Hextall but that's about it.

I'm with you, I hate the leafs like any good Buffalonian, but Tampa is something different all together. Dirty, cheap, cheaty, whiny, the are the most unlikeable team in the league in a long time and they keep getting rewarded for their shit. Go leafs (for this round only).

Dumba is human garbage. I wouldn't want him anywhere near the Sabres even if he agreed to play for free. What nonsense on Pavelski. If Dumba isn't suspended I hope one of the Stars ends his playoff.
 
F the NHL. Hit is cheap as shit and Pavelski is seeing stars and after video review for some reason Dumba only gets 2 for roughing and it's a 4 on 4. Joke of a league.

Unfortunate result, clean hit for positioning, barely late. Just a typical finishing the check kind of play.
 
A tad late yes. But not by much in my opinion. Hope Pavelski is alright. Scary situation nonetheless when your head hits the ice

You can argue either way - I respect your view - but Dumba's rep, Pavelski being injured, and Dumba laughing the whole time about it while he's in the penalty box pushes the scales way over for me.

Meh seemed pretty clean to me plenty of hits happen later than that it was 0.3 seconds after the puck was gone. The only reason anyone even cares is because someone got hurt from getting hit hard.

It's a little late but nothing too egregious.

A quick google result shows he's never been suspended. Looks like he got $5000 fine for....squirting a water bottle.

Give me a physical d-man who gives forwards pause going into the corners.

I guess if you want D-men who just watch players skate by them and give them a very aggressive stick wave, we've got a few of those.

he pretty clearly went hunting, I just dont think the actual contact was in a dirty location

I was under the impression that the nhl was trying to eliminate that specific thing

Seeing as Dumba was laughing at Domi after he went after him, I’m not going to add any additional ill-will for that. Dumba’s rep has nothing to do with the hit itself. If you want to hate him, fine I get it, but if you’re saying he should’ve been tossed BECAUSE of his rep, then you’d open up a can of worms in this league.

Hate to see anybody get injured, Dumba did his job of playing physical hockey, and accomplished what his role creates.

It's an unnecessary hit, sure.

It's the playoffs, it's about setting a tone. It sucks that Pavelski got injured, but it was a clean shoulder to shoulder hit.

Probably what most our D-men think and then wonder why everyone on the other team skates to the front of our net like free real estate knowing no one but Dahlin-Samuelsson will bother to touch them.
