The Rantanen carry flamed out. Too much dependence on him.
They wanked off to his “video game stats” after the first round. Since then, Dallas is doing the typical shit under Pete, being flaccid af. There’s a reason why I don’t like Deboer as a coach, he is about as clueless as Sully and Brindy. If he can’t win with elite performances and has to rely on coaching, he’s f***ed. He’s always f***ed.

Also what a dumb move to sit Bourque for 3 games. They can’t score for shit now and they want to sit a very smart player that could help spark something down the depth?

To play dipshits like Steel and Back over Bourque is just, lol. f*** em. I hope Edmonton loses in the finals again, keep burning those morons out so they crash. I hate the Panthers but I hate the Oilers even more for Kane and Bowman. If we have to see that inbred wanker Tkachuk win another, so be it. They will definitely lose some players this summer that will hurt.

Stars going out the way of Vegas. I knew Oilers would destroy them, another team that can't score goals to save their life. Their depth is a no show, which is weird because it's much better then Oilers but just not in the playoffs.

Florida on the other hand...can score goals throughout the lineup.

They bragged a ton about Rantanen being this new playoff god for them and then when they really needed their big guns to step up and they have a f***ton of them, f***ing crickets in TexAss.

Marchment has been an absolute joke of a playoff performer and that's just his thing, but Duchene, Rantanen, Benn, etc - all being ghosts is just brutal. Seguin is actually doing well vs Edmonton but that's not saying much either. For Wyatt Johnston, last year seemed more like an anomaly for him because this year he's back to his first playoffs type of numbers.

Dallas is a much deeper team than Edmonton. It just doesn’t matter when the other team has elite talent. That’s why there are so many proponents of tanking. If you want to win a Cup you essentially need that differentiating talent.

Sean Mcdonough is absolutely horrible and I can't believe they keep letting him do conference finals/SCF games. He's slow and always behind the play and his voice sucks the emotion out of everything. He's just awful.

Not to mention Dave Jackson. He reminds me of the guy in 2020 who fell asleep in a Zoom meeting and he's stunned to be woken up and needing to provide an explanation on the question he didn't even hear to being with

I feel that that's harsh. He's a pretty excellent coach, even if he doesn't win it all imo. Well above the median.
10 straight game 7 wins is admirable. So is five 3rd round (or further) appearances in six years.
Then you throw in .646-.732 records five times in that same period. Pretty impressive.

Yes, 15 years of tanking and 5 wasted 1st OAs and Edmonton finally got it right lol. Better late than never i suppose

Roster depth is only on paper. You still have to actually perform from April-June to win.
The Oilers are getting balanced scoring this year, as well as defensemen exceeding expectations.
Their elite talent is doing what they've always done in the playoffs. What's making the difference now is that they're more well-rounded. Knoblauch has them bought in to the system.

McDavid and Drai had a hand in every one of the goals last night. Their depth would quickly disappear without them.

Florida is the same thing. Barkov is obviously a very different player but they aren’t in back to back finals without him.

Well yeah, you're not gonna reach a Finals unless the two guys you're paying 26.5M for play up to that level. But this is still very different from years past, where they produced a ton offensively and the lack of help and structure eliminated them anyway.

There's 9 guys over 0.5 P/PG. Walman's a +13 in this playoffs. Kulak's been solid af. Even Klingberg is playing well defensively, which is just straight up weird. Bouchard has improved a ton in his own end under Knoblauch.

There is one... ONE minus player on this team right now, and he only played a single game in the playoffs.
And their goaltending hasn't even been good.

This is a proper team effort from Edmonton here.

I don't have the stats to back this up, but it appears to me that the goalies (Skinner) are bailing them out moreso that they have the other team locked down.

It's alarming to see that man players be non-factors. The Stars finished third in goals for in the regular season, including nine guys who hit double digits.

Skinner's definitely stepped it up more this round. But then, this is supposed to be the strongest of their 3 opponents, so it's to expected that they would be under more pressure.

I'd argue that Dallas isn't at full strength- they've got a ton of guys nicked up. I'm not trying to make excuses or to dunk on Edm. Just my observation as a neutral fan it appears that Dallas is getting PDO'd: Stars are controlling much of the play, getting quality looks, etc and it's not going in for them (bc of Skinner).

The looks Edm get aren't as quality, but they have the top end guys to convert limited chances. For Dallas to have a chance I said at the beginning Oettinger has to be the best goalie of the series due to Dallas being banged up. He hasn't so that's why they're about to be going home.
