GDT: Around the NHL - Playoff Edition

Looks like it’s the Oilers cup to lose. They’ll face a beat up Dallas or Winnipeg and it’s pretty clear the east doesn’t have much jam this year.
I agree the Oilers are the favourite, but I don’t think either Dallas or Winnipeg will be beat up. Hasn’t been a very physical series. Also if it goes 7, that’s a long wait for Edmonton and that’s almost always disadvantageous for teams.

I can see Carolina being a bad matchup for the Oilers. The Canes play with so much structure and have the players to play against McDavid and Draisaitl. Also Andersson has played really good playoffs so far.
Those are my thoughts too. EDM seems to be able to skate themselves out of trouble so far. They wouldn't be able to do that against CAR. Of course Canes finishing needs to be on point to make it that far and succeed.

I always wondered: if they're such a hockey town that they can sustain a pro team in a small market, why are they always bottom 5 in attendance even through these years as a contender?
Jets ownership got slack in selling corporate tickets. Sales have improved since last year.

Also to put in in perspective, the entire province of Manitoba has a million less people than the Pittsburgh Metro area. The fact that they have an NHL team that hits 92-100 percent capacity at all sort of proves it's a hockey market.

Also the Jets have only really been a real contender I would say this season and 2018.

His last two games have been solid, but Skinner sporting a 3.05, .884 with a banged up Pickard coupled with Oil's history of goalie meltdowns gives me pause. They'll have to earn it, getting through DAL and CAR/FL.

Partially because they have the smallest barn in the league - 15,225. Over three thousand less seats than the Pens, whom they outdrew. Penguins are in for some scary attendance numbers the next couple of years.
