GDT: Around the NHL - Playoff Edition

Lol should've specified consistently good. Just funny how we wax nostalgically over the Pens goalie struggles of the last few years and now you have Vezina winners that can't stop beach balls

It's funny, they traded him to Carolina figuring he would not be a thorn in their side, lol.
Then he forced his way to Dallas to make sure he would inflict maximum pain to the Avs by playing them multiple times a season and potentially playoffs.

Kinda reminds me of how Kessel took his game to another level after being traded here because of the mountain-sized chip on his shoulder.

-edit- It's funny because reportedly Rantanen and the Avs players have nothing but love for one another and still consider each other brothers, but holy f*** does Rantanen f***ing hate MacFarland.

Matthews is a no-show once again. It's too bad, because Woll did his part.
Matthews is a regular season hero that never seems to shine when the playoffs begin. All you have to do is look at his career playoff numbers compared to the guys he's compared to (McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, Kucherov, etc.). Even worse, his goal scoring all but dries up. And that's supposed to be his bread and butter.

Yeah I don’t know if he gets inside his head or there is something about his play style that’s not conducive to playoff hockey. Just odd to see player of his talents basically disappear.

Still don't understand how this was ruled a good goal

From ESPN
With the referee announcing that Petrovic kicked the puck, the fact that it deflected off Hellebuyck's stick into the net made the review complicated because of a carveout for goalies in the kicked-puck rule. Rule 49 states that "a kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding the goalkeeper's stick) shall be ruled a good goal."

I get what happened in Game 3. No way the Panthers were going to go down 3-0. The Leafs, though, blew it last night. Hard to recover from taking four(!) dumb penalties in the opening period.

They ruled that it wasn't deflected, Helly propelled it into his own net.

It was up to the official's discretion whether or not to pursue disciplinary action for abuse of officials and the official said it was nothing.

Domi just put a bullseye on Nylander and Marner though.
