GDT: Around the NHL - Playoff Edition

Bob's just kinda sucked. Florida's a good step behind, but the real difference has been Bob so far imo.

Also, it still stings to see Knies continue to come into his own knowing that the Pens planned to pick him if Toronto didn't the pick right before them.

Bob playing mid enough without his easy saves bouncing off his defenseman into the net.

This is pretty much it for the Cats…if they can’t win tonight it’s over…

Would be nice if one of our late first/early second round picks developed like Knies. Amazing how other teams can draft guys like that around that pick, but I'm constantly told we shouldn't expect our picks in the 20-40 range to pan out because of the odds.

On that note, hopefully McGroarty can be that type of impact. I'm going to punch the next person who suggests that's too much to expect out of a non top 10 pick.

I doubt the league is rigging things to help the Oil. They were 23rd in power play opportunities this year.
This.

Refs miss things and are at times incompetent. But corrupt? Not really.

I think that the NHL refs the score and swallows whistles at the end of tight games is a thing that likely breeds conspiracy theories. Bit favoring one jersey over another?another.

In sports that is extremely rare to find actual ref corruption, and always the few cheating instances were for money, not rooting one way or another.

We've seen cases of it in the NBA and NHL, and they realized that fans didn't really care about it that much. So it continues

Yeah I could really tell how the league is fixing things for the Oilers to win last year in SCF game 7, when the Oilers had 1 PP in the game.

Being stupid, hateful and a conspiracy theorist is a terrible combination guys. The stats don't support you at all.

If you wanna hate the team, go for it. But don't make up fantasies to justify it. Just say you're biased and leave it at that.

Funny that all of the dumb conspiracy crap we used to hear about the refs ‘giving Crysby all the calls’ is being said in this thread about the Oilers. Turns out we’re not better than dumb Flyers or Caps or Rangers, etc fans.

I mean, let's wait until the Caps are actually golfing before celebrating. But yeah, haven't impressed me at all throughout either series so far.
I like the fact that outside of Game 1 of the Habs series, Ovechkin has been a ghost who just glides around the ice waiting for someone else to do all the work. Yet we've got folks talking about him being better than Crosby this year because the Caps finished 1st.

Like, great, he's still got a knack for scoring goals. But as an overall impact offensive player, he hasn't been on Crosby's level since the 2005-2011 stretch.
