Hockey is different here. It's become apparent. We do not know what we're doing when it comes to developing offensive players.

It's the equivalent of putting your car in 3rd gear and wondering why you're not accelerating quickly off of a stand still. Our top picks foundation is offense. Let them build up momentum ( 1st and 2nd gear ) then you can shift to other things. NHL is not a developmental league. Having them come here and focus on their weaknesses (defense/2way game ) it will destroy all of their confidence. Hindsight, if we knew they weren't getting top6 minutes, they should have stayed overseas and in Juniors.

For whatever reason the organization took the philosophy of forcing these kids to learn to play a more complete game first before getting comfortable playing their own game.

There is nothing for them to fall back on. Why were we worried about 18 yr Olds being defensive liabilities? Why was the first thing talked about in preseason was putting Kaako and Laf on the PK?

Let them figure out what got them drafted at this level then you add in the defensive side of the game.

14 goals in 13 games for Drai so far. I know it’s tough to measure since they play together sometimes and apart sometimes but Drai has proven himself a lot more than a product of McDavid and produced like it even with McDavid out. Can’t believe he’s signed for 4M less than McDavid. He has a legitimate argument as a less flashy but better all around player. McDavid does things no one else can. Draisaitl’s hockey sense and positioning is off the charts. And I could argue he’s a bit more complete. Certainly has seemed better built for the post season.

I've never been a fan of the rules changing for playoffs, if its a penalty in reg season it should be in playoffs too. I dont like that a guy like Gaudreau can get 80 points in the reg season and then all of a sudden people are hanging off him slashing making him ineffective, rules should be consistent, and if they were a guy like him either gets less points all year or more in playoffs.

Honestly I haven't even started looking at the standings yet. It's pretty early and the NHL is a Hunters and Gatherers league with points this early. The Rangers are playing at 1/3 their capability and generally have ugly games yet still doing ok. That's promising.

Don't get me wrong, Germany recognizes Drai , but given the fact that he's top 3 player in the world! He's not getting nearly enough exposure or love.
Much like his MVP season, he was awarded German athlete of the year during the Rona and didn't get the attention he deserved.
Watch out for se Germans. Once Seider is fully grown, there will be more international damage done. Can't wait.

Amazing not that big of a kid but is not scared to go into the danger area. I just hope maybe a guy like cuylle or Berard eventually will do that for us
