Once they LTIR Boychuk they'll be compliant.

A lot of miles on that roster overall though.

one of the older teams in the league, not a great prospect pool. Their window closed just as soon as it opened.

Not getting assets for J.T. f***ed them hard. Should have traded him at the deadline and gotten 2-3 young assets. They are feeling it now.

Any player who wishes to opt-out of the 2021-22 season because they are unvaccinated or fully vaccinated “but can establish that an immediate family member with whom he shares a household is at substantially heightened risk of severe illness by contracting COVID-19” can opt-out by Oct. 1. The team in question will then have 30 days to decide if the player’s contract will be “tolled” (basically rolling it over to 2022-23) or if this season would be removed from the agreement. Anyone opting out would not be able to play in another league or the Olympics.

There are stiff rules for unvaccinated players. On the road, they cannot enter “internal venues” other than the team hotel, practice facility, or game arena. They are not allowed to use the hotel gym, pool, sauna, steam room or other shared facilities. They are not allowed to have teammates, team staff or visitors inside their hotel room, with the exception of fully-vaccinated family. They are not allowed to leave the hotel to eat (or purchase food) or use any restaurants/bars (in or out of the hotel) that are open to the public. They can’t pick up food except where the restaurant provides curbside pickup (or similar service) that does not require entrance to the main restaurant.

Main boards claim Zack Parise has signed with Long Island. Lou Lamoriello has yet to file the contract with the league if true.
I will take a guess that they will need to dump a player or two before opening night.

How many Rangers are participating in the Olympics?

Fox. He wasn't listed on some previous roster projections. The US is loaded at RD. Fox. McAvoy. Carlson. Jones. Petry? No room for Trouba unless he has a terrific season.

Zibanejad. Lundkvist? Probably not.

Panarin and Shesterkin. Vasilevskiy is the starter. Shesterkin should be one of the two other goaltenders.

Lafrenière. If Lafrenière has a terrific start to the season, why not?

Kakko.

Chytil.

Maybe Kreider.

He might have to officially move Boychuk to LTIR first, then I think that will give him the cap room to fit Parise.

EDIT: my bad Uninstaaled alread said it

I believe he was already 3 mil over the cap. Boychuk hit is 6 million so now he 3 under.
What I don’t understand is Boychuk announced his retirement back in November of 2020 due to an eye injury. So why was his contact not placed on LTIR then?

Might be tweaked a little harder but mostly good. I have the impression that to enter Canada these days you have to be fully vaccinated and if the full schedule plays out the Rangers will play 10 games in Canada against Canadian teams and 6 of them very early in the season making three trips into Canada for those. A player is doing his team, teammates and fans a disservice if he is not ready to play in every possible way. They do have the option of opting out the season.

That’s how it should be with everyone, just in general. I don’t think anyone should be forced to take the vaccine but if you don’t get it, whatever reasoning you may have, need to have strict mandates enforced that must be followed by those unvaccinated, where as vaccinated people should be more free and open in their outside activities.

The Rangers are on the road for 11 of their first 15 games. Very early on they play in Montreal and Toronto and then for some inexplicable reason fly out to Nashville and then fly back into Canada for their next game in Ottawa. Don’t ask me why the NHL scheduled like that I have no idea. Soon after they start one of their two west coast trips in Seattle then to Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. If we have an unvaccinated player he could miss 7 games right there because if he’s not allowed entry into Canada he might miss the game in Nashville too and that’s a problem all the way around.

i'd rather watch NHL hockey in february instead of an Olympic break
As a kid I loved Olympics. I'll still watch it, but def agree that I'd rather be watching regular NHL with no crazy condensed scheduling due to the Olympics.

Casual fans love the Olympics, especially if their home country medals. Doesn't really carry over much after though. It's pride in their country more so than a new love for hockey. Maybe a few stay? *shrug*
