Yes. They also gave Svechnikov a $4,000,037 signing bonus lol$20 signing bonus. Hilarious. Because it's Aho's #?
I do too, but they’re also like right on the edge of going too far lolI wish we had the Canes social media people.
The mark of organizational culture effectiveness. A bunch of jerks, from players to front office to the social media department.I wish we had the Canes social media people.
I would hope they have a gentleman's agreement that Kotka is essentially getting a salary advance on any future contracts. The Canes could lose this. Basically Jesperi is getting a contract for about twice what is justified and this will be the starting point from which he negotiates his next contract. Carolina to qualify will have to offer at least $6.8 mil next year and if his production doesn’t take a significant jump then where are they? Overpay again? Cut him loose? and they’ll be out a 1st and a 3rd in a very good draft.
Agreed. Other than being petty this is a stupid move. Jk is not remotely worth that contract and compensationMontreal would be smart to not match it, IMO.
Canes should have spent the money on Hamilton.
Money aside, what does a mid-late first round pick usually get you at the trade deadline? Nick Foligno? We are talking about a guy who still has the potential to become a top-6 center in the NHL, he's not even a full year older than Kakko.Agreed. Other than being petty this is a stupid move. Jk is not remotely worth that contract and compensation
That's like the least surprising thing regarding this offseason. Probably 3 times more than what Montreal was offering, you bet he takes that and laughs his way to the bank. And if his play doesn't warrant qualifying him at that number after this season, he's UFA by the summer. He and his agent struck a goldmine here without even trying to do so.Also a little surprised that the kid would sign the offer sheet. I guess he doesn’t like MTL. I hope this backfires for all parties involved.
How many Rangers are participating in the Olympics?
Fox. He wasn't listed on some previous roster projections. The US is loaded at RD. Fox. McAvoy. Carlson. Jones. Petry? No room for Trouba unless he has a terrific season.
Zibanejad. Lundkvist? Probably not.
Panarin and Shesterkin. Vasilevskiy is the starter. Shesterkin should be one of the two other goaltenders.
Lafrenière. If Lafrenière has a terrific start to the season, why not?
Kakko.
Chytil.
i think it was on TSN, they said the Canes tried to trade for Kotka and the Canadians must have not been very reasonable with their asks for a 20 pt player or just turned them down so I'm assuming they offered something they thought was already better than the 1st and 3rd Canadians will get for compensation so if true, the drama is rather interesting. It's not like the Canes were full petty. If they negotiated in good faith and got rebuffed, then being able to say "well, take these draft picks that are worse than what we offered you stuffy bastards" is poetic justice. The tweets are just the metaphoric entertainment cherry on topIf they discussed with Kotkaniemi what a long term extension will look like, as is being speculated, then I don't really see how this is a bad move.
They're basically offering to pay a late 1st, a late 3rd, and like 2-3 Million dollars to get a young, experienced centre. That seems like a bargain to me.
