With the way the scoreboard is going these nights, it almost feels like the Rangers can run the table and somehow still not get in.

I think I've already accepted them missing. And we're not just suddenly going to go 12-2 or whatever after being one of the most inconsistent teams all season. Nice to dream about it but what are the chances

We need teams like the caps, Devils, Flyers, Sabres to get some wins against the Bruins, Pens, Islanders don't hold your breath.
Maybe next year we can start off a little better and not dig ourselves a hole again.

Imagine you're a kid somewhere in middle of the country, none of your friends really watch hockey but you turn the channel and turn a game on, there all of these cool guys with sticks on ice, you decide to watch and see what these guys on ice with sticks are up to, maybe you'll pick up a NEW sport! And then you turn that flaming piece of shit on.

It is going to be damn near impossible to make the playoffs. They basically need to go 4/4 against Buffalo and Philly upcoming and then at least 1/3 against the Islanders. They cannot afford more than the 2 losses over this upcoming stretch. They have to go 5-2 to keep their season alive because they have no room for error. And with the way this team consistently is inconsistent with their efforts, I am skeptical.

Missing the playoffs seems likely now. Let this be motivation for the team to bring it next season right out of the gates. At this point since you are burning the first year of his ELC, put in Zac Jones and see what we’ve got with him. Hajek, Smith and Bitetto shouldn’t be here next year anyway.

We've come a long way but I really dont think people remember how bad it was in the beginning of the season. It was a certified dumpster fire

We choked away a lot of points in the beginning but. Islanders next 6 games are against WAS and us. That could end poorly for them with the way they've been playing... I can see a 1-4-1

It enrages me that the Islanders are where they are. I HATE the Penguins, my #1 most hated team but at least that team is usually fun to watch. I hate seeing that garbage by the Islanders rewarded. I don't care who it is I hope they get swept in the first round 94 Rangers style.

Don't worry. They are going nowhere. Washington, Pitt, and Boston are all better.

Sabre scores on a 2 on 1 and has an empty net because the Pens provided no resistance and Anson Carter calls it an "unbelievable finish". I'm not an Anson Carter fan at all.

Agree. The “Trap” almost destroyed the NHL. There were rule changes that deterred that style and here we are 25 to 20 years later having to watch coaches recycle it so mediocre talented teams can be competitive. If it catches on again I’m guessing there will have to add more rule changes.

Nah man, you never ever count on teams coached and motivated like the Islanders are to lose that badly down the stretch. It doesn't happen. They are a good team, not a "eh" team that was playing up at the beginning of the year. Teams ahead of the Rangers WILL seem to win out. I mentioned earlier, and someone else did too recently that there is a better chance of the Rangers going on a 15 game winning streak and still miss out on the playoffs by a decent margin than them actually making the playoffs.

This year with these divisions suck. There are going to be so many 3 point games too to have to account for.

They ended last season 2-7-4

It's possible.

Of course, that's how odds work, but I wouldn't count on it. This year though is different because of such big swings in the standings, can't coast into the playoffs (though I can see wash taking it easy going in).

They Islanders sucked late last year. They would have missed playoffs if it went 82 games.

And maybe we would have made it if we were garbo for the first half this year.

Last year and this year cant be compared for any team. I would absolutely bet on the islanders making it because it's far safer. I'll be rooting for them to horrifically collapse though.

I don't think Jones gets in until they are officially eliminated. Thats why Betetto was in today.

Obviously its going to take a minor miracle to make up 8 points with only 11 games left. We probably would have made it in if we didn't lose all those 1 goal games in the first 20 games and we didn't have the injuries and Panarin's LOA. It is what it is.

There no point in really getting bent out of shape over these other games.

The Rangers need to take all 3 meetings against the NYI to even have a shot. If it comes down to a matter of 1 or 2 points at the end there are will be a billion different things we can point to as factors but its doubtful that they even make it THAT close. Like beating the Devils 4 times in a row is cute, but they're bound to lay a few eggs before the end of the season (hell, they laid a few vs the Devils, but they suck.)
