I don't necessarily disagree but Game 2 was winnable - Henrik and the non-goalie interference call and I can't find the exact play (I try not to watch that series too much), in OT in game 2, there was a dispute whether there should be a penalty or not for a delay of game (Puck out of play) - the face off wound up in the Rangers zone and I think Dustin Brown scored the winner??? If someone has a better recollection, I am not 100 percent sure.
If we come home tied 1-1 (erase the heart break of Game 1 which was an OT loss). Game 3 seemed to be the only game where the Rangers were over matched.
It's just painful to recall that series. They had leads in each of the games in LA. Game 5 was their worst, but games 1 and 2 were pretty even overall, especially when you factor in that they were winning those games and the Kings made strong pushes in each of those games while trailing, like all good teams do.
The Nash empty net that ticked off a stick and the Kreider post on his breakaway are haunting memories. Could have completely changed how Game 3 and 4 were coming back home. The building was into it, but if it was 1-1 or even 2-0, the Garden would have been rocking. Completely different series at that point.
I still feel like it should have been a 2-2 series going back to LA and likely a 7 game series overall. On top of that, Hank was the best Game 7 goalie in the league. This and the 2015 Tampa series are just series that I don't know if I'll get over. They matched well with that Chicago team in 2015. Feel like we'll be waiting until 2024 or 2025 before they'll be at that point.
