I don't necessarily disagree but Game 2 was winnable - Henrik and the non-goalie interference call and I can't find the exact play (I try not to watch that series too much), in OT in game 2, there was a dispute whether there should be a penalty or not for a delay of game (Puck out of play) - the face off wound up in the Rangers zone and I think Dustin Brown scored the winner??? If someone has a better recollection, I am not 100 percent sure.

If we come home tied 1-1 (erase the heart break of Game 1 which was an OT loss). Game 3 seemed to be the only game where the Rangers were over matched.

It's just painful to recall that series. They had leads in each of the games in LA. Game 5 was their worst, but games 1 and 2 were pretty even overall, especially when you factor in that they were winning those games and the Kings made strong pushes in each of those games while trailing, like all good teams do.

The Nash empty net that ticked off a stick and the Kreider post on his breakaway are haunting memories. Could have completely changed how Game 3 and 4 were coming back home. The building was into it, but if it was 1-1 or even 2-0, the Garden would have been rocking. Completely different series at that point.

I still feel like it should have been a 2-2 series going back to LA and likely a 7 game series overall. On top of that, Hank was the best Game 7 goalie in the league. This and the 2015 Tampa series are just series that I don't know if I'll get over. They matched well with that Chicago team in 2015. Feel like we'll be waiting until 2024 or 2025 before they'll be at that point.

Better than losing him for nothing in the expansion draft. Sounds like Nashville wants to protect more than 3 D.
Don't think he would have been exposed regardless. What 4 Nashville forwards would you protect over him?

I think the Islanders were the only real tough team for them, and it took them 7 games, and only scored one goal in that final game. Islanders could have taken that series. What I meant was this SCF is Tampa's to lose. They needed to go full throttle to beat the Isles, but they can half ass it now like last night, and still beat Montreal in this series.

That Florida series was awesome and they have Tampa all they could hope for.

Prolly my fave hockey of the postseason.

I’m not ready to forgive the lighting for 2015 but I’m pretty grateful for them this year. I have no doubt the isles would be up 2-0 as well and poised for a sweep. They are just a better version of Montreal it seems

I just listened to the most recent 31 Thoughts podcast and the Canadian media is a joke. Friedman says “Going in to the Final my Conn Smythe vote was going to Price win or lose.” And then basically said he’s still leaning Price even after the first two games. Marek agreed with him and said if he had a vote it would be Price and from ppl he’s spoken to he’s not in the minority.

Meanwhile Vasilevsky has better numbers and is actually winning the series. Friedman said “idk Vasilevsky has had some weird games” as if that disqualifies him? And as if Price didn’t get lit up for 5 in game 1?

I swear Montreal is going to lose in 4 or 5 and the Canadian media is going to force the Conn Smythe to Price, it’s such a joke.

Price belongs no where near the Smythe in a loss.

Kucherov has like 90000 points.
Yeah that’s what I don’t get. Not only has Tampa’s goalie been better than Price but I think Kucherov is a slam dunk with his scoring. Point would be above Price for me too.

Price wins it with a Habs Cup win no doubt. But Friedman and Marek were basically saying he maybe should still get it EVEN IF THEY GET SWEPT. Like that’s just insanity.

Carey Price gets his ass wiped by the NHL media.

He's had a great postseason but they are trying to will this narrative in that he's having some kind of once in a lifetime playoff performance that transcends the sport.

Erikson Ek just got paid nicely.

Wonder if signing younger players to long term contracts will become a strategic decision for teams and players now, with the flat cap situation and economic uncertainty.

Yeah I mean the idea that Friedman is saying that his vote going into the SCF was Price whether they win or lose. Like wtf is that? You’re gonna throw away 25% of the series that he plays in, let alone the most important one, in your decision?

And it’s not like Tampa doesn’t have a stand out guy like sometimes happens. They have Kuch scoring a ton, Point almost setting goal scoring records and Vasilevsky with better numbers than Price.

The Price worship is insane. He’s had a very good playoff, the first time he’s played up to his reputation in about 5 years, good for him. He hasn’t been otherworldly Conn Smythe win or lose good. No way.

Now if he pitches a couple shutouts and they come back and win the series, absolutely. But if they lose? That would be a joke. But the Canadian media worships him so it wouldn’t shock me, especially bc the Conn Smythe voting pool is extremely small (10 ppl I think) and basically made up entirely of main stream reporters.

This is exactly why I didn’t want Montreal to win the cup. It’s f***ing unbearable already. Thankfully they won’t be winning.

There's really not much else to cover regarding the Habs when it comes to individual performances.

No one wants a pregame show about how good the team system is.
