Agreed. Though I think Marchand gets a bit too much of a bad rap. He’s a bit crazy but he rarely, if ever, put others players in real danger. He generally is the one taking the brunt of big hits and he doesn’t go headhunting like the true sociopaths. He’s certainly a pain to play against but I’d welcome him on the Rangers.

Marchand is a greasy player, but I'd still want him he's that good. Low hits, cheap after the whistle sucker punches, slew foots etc... he did it all, but he's an awesome player.

I dont get why the Rangers either have a tough guy with not much skill, or skilled guys with very little grit or big guys that play soft.

Why cant they get the next round of Tlkachuk, Marchand, Jamie Benn, Wayne Simmons, Dustin Brown, Anders Lee type of players

The last big physical guy with skill and some grit they drafted was Chris Kreider

Rangers lack of grit will hurt them. Name 1 soft team that won in the playoffs. No soft teams win in the playoffs

If Marchand was available 30 teams would take him. He is that good. He is entertaining with his skill Bruins fans are lucky to have Marchand. Always was a fan of his. He is the type of player Rangers should look at the draft, maybe that 4th 5th 6th round pick can be a top player.

He developed late I believe? This board would have demanded him gone long before he hit his prime:)

Gorton would have traded him for a 3rd.

Its great and all to have that, but Ryan Lindgren has made him, that other rat kid on Boston and Tom Wilson lose it and has crushed them on the ice already multiple times . He has played 102 games. I shudder to think who Ryan Lindgren is in the playoffs 2022. BRING IT

Hopefully Lafreniere turns into a guy like that. Hopefully...

can we stop talking about Ratboy now

Trevor Zegras had 2 points last night, including a beauty of a pass to set up the 1st goal. Amazing he is able to get some points on such a putrid Ducks team where no one can finish.

That Carrick guy looks pretty small.

Edit: they list him as 6ft .. Maybe the goalie and defender are huge? I don't know why I care...

Thinking Schneider and Cuylle will be physical yet i get it. Can you find me a Rick Tocchet?

Could be the angle, he also went down to one knee to take the shot. But anyway, he is the San Diego Gulls captain, and is mainly an AHL guy. Him and Zegras had some chemistry when Zegras started down in the AHL. 1/3 of the Ducks team is on IR. If any team deserves a Top 3 pick, it's them this year. NOT Buffalo. At least the kids get ice time there, unlike the Rangers kids. (Just saw the practice lines for NY, woof!) But Anaheim is not looking at playoffs anymore, so nothing to lose with playing inexperienced kids.

Boston/Philly tonight, and 2 more times in 6 days. No Halak (Covid) no Rask. Hmmmm. Behooves Rangers for Philly to win obviously. We will bypass them easily enough......looking directly at you Bruins! We're gunning for ya'!

Bruins 5-0 24gf/12ga
Flyers 0-3-2 12gf/24ga
This needs to change Philly's way,

Capitals 8-0 32gf/19ga
Devils 0-6-2 19gf/32ga

We don't need it looking like this.

Here’s hoping the Flyers can help us close the GP-gap with the Bruins - doubt it though

Seriously? The kid just had a great game. Two assists. They've had him in and out of the lineup. Sometimes he plays, sometimes he's scratched. He's played up and down the line sometimes with Getzlaf and yesterday two assists despite playing with Max Jones and Sam Carrick and now they send him down? What is that going to do to his confidence? It almost makes me wonder if they're souring on him already.

They also don’t want to burn a year off his UFA . Honestly, the Ducks are a F’ing mess now, better to have him in a more winning environment, get stronger and grow into the center role. Actually feel bad Drysdale is still up with this dumpster fire, but he has looked very good and NHL ready.

Bit of a weird move but it nice to see an organization have some transparency about their plans on how to develop their players.

Berard is the closest thing drafted recently to a Marchand type and we happen to have him. If we can be patient with his development, but also give him opportunities rather than decide “oh, he’s a 4th liner, cool” after his first 1-2 pro seasons, he has a chance.
