#LEADERSHIP
Made for some fun "TV", but certainly NOT what I would call "gamesmanship". Like that he would've waited Marchand out till puck drop, but c'mon. Childish. Made me feel like it was "staged". These players dont have anywhere near the "hatred" for opposing players like they used to in "battle". Its just all about the money and "if" they feel like taking it to that next level. Gamesmanship is ON the ice when the game is on, and clock temporarily NOT ticking.

Brings to mind that I didn't mind Marchand doing what he did, one being his spearing in which Howden speared back. Raises the ire, and supposedly should increase the battle level.
If received correctly, should "unify" the team, and saying "you ain't gonna get away with that". Didnt happen to a large degree, and Marchand goes home laughing that the Rangers can be "had" with intimidation tactics.

For those who haven't heard or seen the chiclets episode with Callahan. It just dropped a few days ago. Talks about what happened with Sather.

This guy's a total New Yorker. Even from the pride and resentment, and being able to laugh to about it. Talks about Girardi, Torts. This guy is a straight up grinder. That's one thing that I think a lot of fans admired about him, he went balls out, and always played with a purpose. Great episode if you haven't caught it.

The doom and gloom in here makes me wanna eat cyanide. I can't believe people arent excited for whats transpired over the last couple years. We complained about not having high end prospects, we've now got a bunch, we complained about our d, its now looking really good even at half completion. We complained about Girardi, Shattenkirk, Staal, and even Lundqvist and theyve all be moved along one way or the other. Some of our better d prospects havent even played yet and we still have our draft picks for this season and a ton of cap coming off next year, we are in a very enviable position, especially given the pressures covid has put on low budget teams to shed salary. The future is bright but ya gotta be ready to wait for it.

Stamkos is on the covid protocol list. He posted pictures of himself at a superbowl party with two dozen people on his own social media.

If it were up to me, his season would be over. The league has to crack down on the behavior or this is going to unravel.

Tar and feathers....!

Oh wait, it was a false positive...

Holy overreaction...

The guys have to be smart, but you can’t ask them to live their lives on lockdown for 2 years. We are already at about 12 months and I’d venture to say a majority of us have gone back to something somewhat resembling every day life.

I'm not asking them to live their lives on lockdown. I'm asking them to not practically lick handrails and have coughing contests.

A little dramatic, no?

MLB, NBA, and the NFL have all managed to have seasons. All of them have had bumps in the road. The NHL will be the same.

They need to be smart, but we also need to be understanding and allow them some leeway. Seeing a human being in the presence of others shouldn’t result in calls for a season wide ban. I hate to tell you, but these guys go food shopping, and they meet friends and relatives. That’s not going to change. Should they be clubbing with 200 people? No. However whose to say their girlfriend doesn’t come home who was just at a friends house who 3 days before was at a club?

Honestly, I think they’re doing about as well as they can realistically do. The league or government should work on getting these athletes vaccinated ASAP. They may not be in a high risk category, but their traveling causes inherent unavoidable risk to them and those in their presence (family, fans, staff... etc..).

You said twice they need to be smart.

Going to big Superbowl parties is not that.

More hysteria.

There’s a big article in the Atlantic about it in the context of, “this is what we do now in the time of CoVid.” It details a private team only event in a private conference room. They are allowed to sit 3 to a table and have to wear masks. These are the same people they are locked down with and this is probably the same procedure for team meals and meetings.

You were talking about suspending Stamkos for the season and compared it to licking doorknobs and having coughing contests.

This is exactly what I meant about living life, but being smart about it.

It’s irresponsible to just start spouting off about these things without knowing any details. No one was bar hopping. No one was going to big random parties. It’s no different from what they prob did in the bubble every day. I guarantee you that every road team probably did the exact same thing.

I kind of agree but in the same vein, why were the Capitals fined for a room party with players, or did we only get half that story?

Callahan would have a very different favorability from this fan base if he signed that contract here.

it worked out well for everyone In the end. We, the fan base and Cally, can all remember the great times cause it ended on a high.
