He doesn't need to be his Dad and you really can't compare the two. Tie was great as fighter/agitator. Max has more talent in his left pinky toe than his Dad did and he has a bit of snarl too his game and pisses off opposing teams which we could definitely use.

I dunno Domi is still just 25, he obviously plays center, a crying need here and the way he played in 2018 I was sold on him hook line and sinker and can't strike that from my head. I think he's well worth the gamble and I can see Quinn and the rest of the coaching staff insuring Domi stays in line.

As I said before as well, with the talent he would have surrounding him, I think depending upon what Montreal would want, if I'm GMJG, I'm on the horn too Bergevin now before the draft too see what's what.

Strome and Domi pretty much have been working off the same contract and if I had to choose between both I would take Strome if only because I know he's not going to be a problem for the coaches. But really if we switched Domi for Strome I'm betting we'd end up in the same place at the end of next season thinking maybe we could still use an upgrade. Anyway Max can fight--for his size. I really wouldn't want him taking on Ross Johnston, Ryan Reaves or Zdeno Chara though and we'll leave it at that. Max doesn't hit very much--not a hard forechecking guy like his dad. IMO you're overplaying him a bit on that. Tie wasn't as skilled as Max is---that's true but I think Tie got a lot more out of the abilities that he had than Max has gotten out of his so far. Tie was actually a pretty decent player.

Domi is probably a small upgrade on Strome but not enough of one to justify the acquisition cost.

This is complete speculation on my part, but I get the feeling that because MTL is using Domi as their 4C, people are in love with the idea of STEALING Domi - which is nice to fantasize about, but we're not getting Domi for 3C/4C trade value.

And on top of that whoever trades for him is not signing him for 3C/4C money

Yeah they won't move him for peanuts. I'm sure they'd like a top-4 defensemen in return but they could also use a scoring winger. I think the latter is easily attainable with Domi.

I question Domi's value. Hes a good player, but this is the 2nd location hes trying to force a move out of and he doesn't play defense.

They'll either get a solid package of futures or a player in a similar situation at a different position.

Sam Bennett to NYR would be a good pickup

Bennett and something for Buchnevich and rights to Fast (if they are not gonna resign him, trade him like they did with Yandle?

would need to be a HUGE + coming from calgary...he had a good playoffs but had 12 points in the season playing 12:31/game. in a deal for buch, bennett should be the add-on not the primary target. not saying he wouldn't be a decent bottom 6 option but buch is worth way more.

Well if your theory that we'd still be looking too upgrade at our 2nd center position was correct, than yeah...don't do the deal for Domi and so I agree with you there. I'm of the belief tho that he'd fit in very nicely and we wouldn't need too upgrade from him after next season.

Listen it's likely not even going to happen but a 2018 version of Max Domi here on this loaded roster would be sweet indeed and check alot of boxes!!
