He's the first coach since Keenan to bring this team to a cup. I would hope most NYR fans at least appreciate that and realize he isn't complete shit. 2 ex NYR coaches up for the Jack Adams this year, it's hilarious.
He will never be given credit. The amount of wins he has put up as a coach is just ridiculous. Top 10 all time in wins and has coached 400 fewer games than Trotz who's 4th overall.

This seems pretty wrong to me. I think the vast majority of Rangers fans would appreciate that he got us to the SCF and won us a President's trophy. He was handed a flawed team with a good work ethic and managed to get them to step up a leve;.
The issue (as such) is that he and the team couldn't sustain that level, and from the ECF losses onward he starting making some interesting decisions with ice-time and personnel, especially in the playoffs. He didn't really seem interested in being around for a rebuild (don't blame him).
I think he's rightly remembered as a damn good coach who got us cloes, but the couldn't or wouldn't adjust to get us back there again

Losing record in the playoffs. 7 Conference Finals Losses. 2 Stanley Cup Finals losses.

He'll get more credit when he actually wins one.

I take losing 2 Cup finals over not ever making it to the final, but that's just me, I guess. Just because you fail to win a Cup, doesn't mean you're not a successful coach. Of course, winning a Cup is the pinnacle and what every coach should strive for, but if you go out with a couple of conference championships, are you a bad coach?

It's weird how this argument is never used against Lundqvist. "2 conference final losses, 1 Cup final loss"

AV is a good NHL coach. He would not have been the right coach for our team though after we decided to go in a new direction. AV was kind of lost at that point. He's more of a closer coach as in one that takes an established team deep into the playoffs than a teaching coach. It's funny but Quenneville in Florida looks kind of ordinary now. The Panthers doing their usual one round and out when they make it at all. It's got a lot to do with the group you have to work with.

Philadelphia has a very good veteran working group in Giroux, Voracek and Couturier. They bring in Hayes and Niskanen and whether you like Hayes or not that was a really good pickup. They're not an old team either. They have a lot of quality younger players--Provorov, Sanheim, Konecny, Hart, Aube-Kubel with Farabee and Frost waiting in the wings. I imagine for Flyers fans that's a fun team to root for and one that's going to be making noise for a while.

So what does have Quinn have to work with and what to the Rangers need. The Rangers are very much a team in development. We also have a very good veteran working group in Zibanejad, Panarin and Kreider and one might even say Lundqvist depending on whether he stays or goes and IMO his replacements are already here. Staal is also a very good leader and good example--he's just a declined player whose injury issues has taken a toll and he needs replacing. We don't have all our pieces in place yet the way the Flyers do. We need two bottom lines that can consistently make a difference towards winning games whether they get on the scoreboard or not. Kind of the same on defense only I also think we need to get bigger there. A team like the Islanders doesn't really have a lot of talent upfront but they have 4 lines that they can consistently roll game after game and for them it works because they've structured the team around their defense--not all that unlike some of Tortorella's Rangers teams. The Bruins always have a good 4th line. Ours right now is AHL/NHL tweeners and raw rookies and a guy like Gauthier if he can't play in an offensive role does not have the all around 4th line grind it out game.

It will be, when others talk about his legacy

Is Chara done after this season or is he gonna go after Chelios and Jagr in terms of playing into his late 40's?

Henrik Lundqvist never lost Smith and Skjei on the bench or willingly played Tanner Glass, shoe horned Girardi next to McDonagh etc.

AV was great when he got here and he didn't have a roster with his influence. As time went on and he got to mold the team into his vision, the results were not good.

AV inherits yet another superstar goalie

went from luongo to Hank to hart

wonder why he has so many wins in the nhl despite him being tolerable for about 1-2 seasons most of the time

it’s a mystery I guess

Which places was he tolerable for 1-2 seasons that make up most of the time?

Quinn's starting off great then, with Shestyorkin in net

So re-seeding all the rounds?
That's my mistake for bad wording.

It'll be highest seed vs lowest seed, second highest vs second lowest, etc. for each of the first and second rounds.

I should have said "not bracketed" since it won't be confined to a bracket that is set by an initial seeding.

carter hart had a sv% of .914 in the RS which put him in a 4 way tie for 20th highest among goalies with at least 25 games, hardly a superstar

Lol for real and he hardly has any work to do lately, the way the Flyers have controlled the ice. But I guess compared to what Philly usually puts between the pipes, he’s a superstar.

The interesting thing about Hart is he was amazing at home and terrible away (or the other way around, I can’t remember which) but now there isn’t really home or away games.
