Smash two! Down go the Penguins. Our draft spot clicks up one more. And I am not the least bit worried about Lafreniere going to an aging team that’s headed for a steep decline.

Just wondering whether or not adding an elite prospect with the number one overall pick would keep an aging team heading into a decline from actually heading into a decline.

I will sign right now if you tell me the penguins don't win the lottery

I give up all chance to get him if you tell me the Pens won't

The next 15 years of the division is at stake with this lottery they cannot win again.

Meh, I don’t think Lafreniere is Eichel level, let alone Crosby. The Pens guys are approaching 35. Lafreniere may make the last few years of Crosby’s “prime” (if we can still call it that) more interesting but I don’t believe he’s a franchise transforming talent along the lines of Crosby, Malkin, Ovie or McDavid at all. He’s overhyped.

They're not in danger of losing their franchise.

No 1 OA for them. Wait until Malkin and Crosby retire.

That’s what I said a week ago. They’re no longer in danger of bankruptcy or relocation and are extremely profitable. I don’t see NHL fixing anything for them. Giving McDavid a winger, on the other hand is tempting.

Curious: Have Toronto/Edmonton been using the visitor dressing room/bench etc when they are "at" Chicago/Columbus?

Great day for draft positioning we are guaranteed a very very good talent as long as the Ranger brass doesn’t go too far off the board.

I would think at this point it would be clear the last thing the Oilers need is another offensive wizard. (Ok maybe not THE LAST thing).

But if they won 1OA and went up there and drafted Sanderson or Askarov it would be insane from a value standpoint but at some level team construction has to come into play.

Need or not, it’s possibly the worst constructed, worst managed team in the league. McDavid is centering Archibald while the Oilers trail the series 2-1 and the elimination game 2-1. Giving McDavid a “franchise” winger would be impossible for them to pass on. They’ve got RNH, Yamamoto, Kassian, Neal, Chiasson and, apparently, Archibald as their wing options.

Isn’t next year the right year for the Penguins to get 1st overall? Or is it 2022?

It's amazing that even with Draisaitl, the Oilers don't look dangerous unless McDavid is on the ice.
Really like how Chicago is developing Dach. He's averaging 20 mins through these playoffs so far and looking damn good
