Sounds like Chiarelli could lose his job in Boston if the stretch run doesn't go well. These situations are just the best at the deadline. GM's with their jobs on the line trying to swing deals always make huge mistakes. It's a train wreck and I love watching. Erat for Forsberg plz.

Turning over the entire front office would be a little much, but I'm not shocked that Chiarelli is finally paying for his stupid decisions.

Sending off three separate amazing offensive talents because of some self-important 'Bruins culture' BS was eventually going to catch up with them. They got through trading Thornton and Kessel, but Seguin was finally the one that bit them in the ass.

If your hockey team's culture cannot handle young, gifted talents, it's time to change the culture, not ship out the talents.

Dumb.

1) Chia wasn't GM when Thornton got traded
2) Kessel was traded because of his contract demands and his poor D (And the Bruins got better when they dumped him)

The culture of B's has more to do with that idiotic being big and bad then anything about offense. Just look at there interest in Kassian and Stewart... They haven't realized they need to get faster and more dynamic

Kessel was a 36 goal scorer looking for 5 million, that was hardly an unreasonable demand.

They actually didn't get that much better. Their goalie played out of his mind and propped up a team that actually performed worse in most areas than the one Kessel was a part of.

You're right, Thornton wasn't on Chia's watch, I got my timeline mixed up. Still, he was shipped off for lack of GRIT! TOUGHNESS! HEART! and all that other BS that the Bruins seem to think are so important, a mindset that - as you point out - lives on under Chia.

The B's D badly misses Boychuk and he had other options to cut cap. He also took chance on Iginla and that Bonus $$$ is killing the B's cap this year which forced them to make move
Like what? You want to get assets for players who don't have a future with your organization and who are UFAs. Chris Kelly was the only other reasonable option, and I doubt teams were lining up for him. They got 2 good assets for a Dman who wasn't going to be around next year. It was no worse of a deal than the Leddy deal, which was a decent deal.
Boychuck deal hasn't been bad when you look at our top 2 D men's offensive numbers recently.

Keith - 15 Points in last 29
Seabrook - 12 Points in 29 games

Of course there is the actual D that is being played. But from an O standpoint Boychuck has been prolific as Keith and Seabs.
Good thing there is more to being a Dman than Offense. If Boychuk was as good as our 2 guys it would have been a mistake, but he isn't even close.

Dude.

You were the one who measured Boychuk's worth purely in terms of offensive output in this post:

How has the Boychuk deal been a disaster? He hasn't even picked the players in the draft yet. Boychuk has cooled down after his hot start. 12pts in last 27GP.

I don't see anything there as far as his defensive acumen is concerned.

Boychuk isn't a great Dman IMO, but he's more proven and consistent than any of the guys that Boston has tried to replace him with.

Also, the Leddy deal wasn't a smart deal. They bet on Oduya's floor over Leddy's ceiling with the the hope that the long-term loss would reap a short-term win. Thus far, it hasn't work out that way at all.

I remember Anders Lee would go for walks with his mom in the summer by our house in the summer in HS. He was a really nice kid.

Pfffft..... Center Ice. GCL is where it's at.

I used to believe that until every ****ing videogame console under the eun suddebly vecame incapable of maintaining a consistent, high-end stream. I stopped paying for GCL, switched to CI, and am much happier overall.
