Part of me feels like they’re sleep walking now so that they have to ramp it up later in the season and ride that into the post season, because the other way around definitely does not work

I don't think they were ever going to be as good as they were last season also.

That may be true but MDZ/Carlson was a legit debate at the time. They were easily in the same class and similar type players. I know, no one had a magic 8 ball, but this hurts.

That may be true but MDZ/Carlson was a legit debate at the time. They were easily in the same class and similar type players. I know, no one had a magic 8 ball, but this hurts.

Oh no doubt. Hell they finished on the same OHL team, the London Knights, before the draft and had similar numbers to finish their D season. It was felt MDZ had more dynamic skills and Carlson did indeed go like 7 picks later. Of course he is also benefiting from playing with one of the best all time players and a stacked team.

You can also look at it this way. If the Rangers drafted Carlson, that doesn't happen in a vacuum, and everything else about the Rangers future changes and not necessarily for any better

I dunno, MT's through the legs one timer OT game winner against a pretty sound defensive team was extremely impressive to me. No 'gas' involved.
