Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

Fair enough. I don't get it, but I respect it. I feel the same way about plenty of our own players. Mika & Panarin top the list. We're never winning anything with those two guys.
I don't like how he's been anointed as a winner and you know... *gestures at the senators*

And yes, they suck, but nobody else gets the same grace. Look at Mitch Marner who is a better player and whose team has gone further every year. Where's his excuses?

Given the choice, I take Brady over Marner a hundred times out of hundred.

There's literally no basis for that other than vibes. Marner is better at everything but hitting.
Vibes being intangibles? Sure. I'm all about it. Regardless, Marner is a bit of a shrinking violet in the playoffs.

We're never going to agree on Marner vs Brady & that's fine, but I'd like the same leeway for myself & others when you want to call them out on what could be seen as an irrational take on Player X. You're not the only one who's allowed to use the excuse that you just don't like them as justification.

My whole point is that the intangibles argument falls apart when his team has never won a playoff game.

I'd sooner believe that about somebody like Anders Lee who has a similar profile and went to two ECF with a trash roster.

This would be an ideal time for Mr. "drag his team into the fight" to score an OT winner.

Marner's team, which has been light years better, has won one playoff round in his 9 years in the NHL. Same can be said about Matthews & Nylander. As I said earlier in the thread, hockey is way bigger than one player. However, way more shit should be dumped on the Leafs for their inability to advance further than Brady should get for not winning a playoff game.

From my POV, Brady has been playing his balls off. Even if they get swept, it would be disingenuous to say he wasn't trying to will his team.

Again this all seems like an exercise in futility. I was fine with you saying you simply don't like the guy. The rest seems superfluous.

Being the first team to advance to the second round will give the Leafs inflated but misguided confidence

I was just telling you why I don't like the guy. He's the biggest fake hero in sports.
