Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

Edmonton is pathetic. Ekholm out and they’re allowing 6 per game. McDavid’s going to get paid on his next contract for what he did on this contract and never put up 125+ again either.

Ottawa and Montreal didn’t belong. Good for Ottawa to take a step and finally make it but they need to keep improving the roster. NJ has a very strong roster but it goes to show how good Jack actually is that they don’t even stand a chance without him. Hate him all you want, Jack and Quinn are both elite talents. Jack’s inability to stay healthy is going to be the Devils downfall - Quinn’s missed some games but seems heartier, Jack should ask for some tips.

Dallas digging really deep to be ahead in this series. When they reach this level, which they do every playoffs, they become a very tough out but the usually run out of gas playing this way.

Bread, Fox, Mika, CK and Kakko for McDavid.

Make it happen! ☺️

The 9:30pm start time was too late for Dallas-Colorado. The game was up against Edmonton-LA. The Montreal-Washington series is a snoozer. Montreal isn't a very good team. Start the Dallas-Colorado game at 8:00pm/6pm in Colorado. The NHL started game two of the Devils series at 6pm.

Why? So he can continue failing when it matters the most but in a blue shirt?

It is becoming pretty obvious that McDavid is not on Crosbys level.

Also, Kakko plays for Seattle.
Interesting way to look at things except none of the players we would trade have won cups either.

KK is gone? Didn't notice him missing (joke)☺️

So why do you want him then? With all the players you want to ship out to get him he would end up on a worse team than the one he would be leaving.

He would be another show pony for the Garden faithful juts like Gretzky was.

I thought this would be the year for them.

They’re not out of it yet obviously but you’ve got to wonder how many playoff disappointments is too many before they start implementing wholesale changes

And yeah the big problem for the Devils is J Hughes health. The guy is a top 5 center in terms of sheer talent in the league but he is unfortunately built like a sorority girl. He does not have the body of a professional athlete

The Ekholm loss is so huge for that team. They rely on him for so much defensively

Hughes wouldn’t make much of a difference. It’s not like he’s got some great track record in the playoffs . Sure it would help their depth but NJ is not as good as everyone expected they’d be .

Although they’ll probably get Quinn Hughes for a song soon and then it will be joever

Their blue line is garbage without him.

Unfortunate, the trade to get him was a master stroke by their GM, if the Rongos had targeted him they could have gone to the SCF but we don’t like good defensemen here

We can't judge guys solely based on if they won cups. Plenty of bad players won cups and plenty of food have not. Hank never won a cup. Howden has. Would you value Howden higher than Hank? Besides McDavid came pretty darn close last season with an inferior team.

The Rangers team he would be a part of would be inferior to what he currently have.

What can he accomplish here that he would not be able to do as an Oiler?

Outside of Leo that may or may not be true. He would be our nucleus to build around. Next season we would be McDavid, JT, Laf, Will, Vince, KAM, Schneider, Borgen, a handful of young guys and Shesty. Ill take my chances with that vs guys that didn't give 100% last season who many want to trade anyway.

You made my point.

Also, you might want to take your chances with that kind of roster but I am most certain McDavid wont.

Drai
Ekholm
Hyman
Bouchard

For what? Old man JT and Shesty?

Id rather try an elite McDavid than continue down the Zibs/CK train.

You think JT is an old man but not CK/Zibs?

If the cup is the end game for McDavid, he will never leave a team with Drai, Bouchard, Hyman, Ekholm for JT Miller, a bust in Laf and role player Will Cuylle. Ekholm by himself is a better player than KAM and Schneider combined.

And Fox is better than all of Edmonton’s d combined and Shesty is better than any Goalie in Edmonton history

If we could add McDavid at just about any price, I'd do it and then be the free agent whores we are for the next decade. We can actually attract talent to play with him, unlike Edmonton.

Flies in the face of how I want management to approach building the team, but McDavid transcends that.
