Around the NHL - Part XLV (Playoffs edition)

Not surprising. The quality of play, even in the playoffs, has been declining for years. The talent pool has been severely diluted & the league is terrible at marketing itself.

I had trouble staying interested on Saturday when Game 1 of the Winnipeg/St Louis series had the intensity of a Monday night in mid November

Yeah hockey has slowly but surely been overtaken by football for me. It just doesn’t feel as exciting as it did in the past. I really dont know what it is, if it’s just fatigue from being Ranger’d over and over, or if the league is really more meh now.

Which kind of football?

I really think the league would benefit with McDavid going to a USA team that is on tv in the Eastern or Central time zone. Its not fair to the Oilers but many hockey fans only see the guy play 1-2 games a year.

Yeah. A USA team in an eastern time zone , who play in a major metropolitan area and are an original six or so teams in the league.

Maybe one that wears blue sweaters at home games? Just spitballing here

I think that might work. Good thinking! :D

Larry watching that Josh Anderson goal

Ovechkin looks 50 years old and is still hitting everything opposing player in sight.

Evans took an hour to get that shot off. Should've tied the game.

Edit, the idiot pulled a Ryan Strome & completely biffed an open net from 8 feet away. Hit the post & rebounded off Thompson, then out the other side.

I used to love football. I barely care about it outside of the Giants now. Between the rules where hitting is outlawed and games seemed rigged, I'd rather watch the Premier League.

As for hockey, it isn't as good. Too many teams and too much focus on speed, speed, speed. I'd rather watch slower and skilled than fast and sloppy. All the speed does is make games get decided by lucky bounces and wacky deflections.

The NFL has become pretty unwatchable. I can only stomach Red Zone...when I try to watch one game, I'm bored to tears or angered by the rigged officiating. Gambling has made that sport so suspect.

Habs are a skilled team, you can see the skill. They're going to be a handful
