Can someone tell me why John Tavares deserves the Hart over a guy like Kessel or Ovechkin? I was watching TSN Sportscenter today and Darren Pang said Tavares was most valuable to his team and it wasn't even close. I like JT as a player, but is he really that good?

Tavares is definitely more important to his team than Kessel. Leafs are stacked on the wings.

Ovechkin, no, he's definitely earned the Hart more so than Tavares.

JT deserves a mention, though, he is a tremendous player. You have to watch him to understand how good he is, he controls the pace of the game and is as strong on his skates as any player in the league.

The Hart Trophy is losing its value for me.

It should be given down to hands down the best player in the game that season. Not one who is most valuable to their team and I know that's the description of the trophy.

Why penalize players like Crosby who are playing on great teams, but are still the best players in the league? In basketball, LeBron James plays for the Heat and he is still acknowledged with the MVP award. Same with Messi and likely his Ballon D'or.

If Crosby doesn't win, the award is a joke.

I don't understand rooting for CBJ. They wil be our divison RIVALS next year. 4 teams make it. Isles are improved. You really want CBJ to ride the positive vibes of a playoff birth into next year?

We can't afford this ******** division we're gunna be in to be even better.

I love the former Rangers, but their future success now hurts the Rangers.

Well, unlike Crosby, LeBron is FAR and away the best player in the NBA. It's not even close.

And, I really don't see how Kessel should even be nominated. I'd hate to see Crosby win the Hart but at least he'd deserve it.

Crosby is far and away the best player in the NHL.
