It shouldn't be, or at least put an asterisk there. Season started late, so they played later into April. Any other year and we'd be watching playoff games right now.

Well... these things happen.

RBNY has famous footballer's Kaka's little brother on their roster basically as a ploy to try to get him over.

If the Canes are able to get Marc (And I have to say, it would take some sort of offer with Skinner's concussion problems) then you feel as though they'd keep Jared on the 4th line for publicity, if nothing else.

I don't think he'll up their jersey sales at all though, come to think of it.

Good for Jared though. He has an opportunity to make a name for himself just like his brothers if he is able to mold into an effective role player. It'd stink to be buried in the minors your whole career.
 
Considering the staal brothers know more then our ****ing GM, is there a chance we could be in for a surprise tomorrow?
 
Staal for the Canes #1 pick in June(currently 5th overall),Jiri Tlusty and Jamie McBain. A Canes fan proposed that in the latest Staal thread on the trade forum. Jordan Staal went for Brandon Sutter,Brian Dumoulin and 8th pick overall(Derrick Pouliot). Would prefer Justin Faulk with the Canes #1 round pick with another asset for Staal. The pick would be the key asset. Maybe a player who can contribute right away or within a year or two on a 3 year ELC. The Rangers would still have McDonagh,DZ and Moore on the left side. Girardi,Stralman and McBain/Faulk on the right side. McIlrath waiting in the wings. All of them are righty shots. Rangers re-sign McDonagh and DZ long-term. Re-sign Girardi.

The team will go to great lengths to re-sign him 2 years from now, assuming they don't extend him before then. The only way he leaves is if he wants out of NY. The Rangers aren't letting their #1 dman walk for nothing.
 
Reading the first page of the Marc Staal thread on the trade boards was enough to make my head explode.

"A serviceable top 4 defenseman."

The difference I think is Eric and Jordan already have their cups. They've won it all already, which has allowed them to think about playing together and possibly building something there. Marc hasn't won a cup. If in 2 years he still thinks his chances of a cup are greater here in NY then he should stay, however if Carolina is great by then, who knows.

Personally I think Marc wants to do what his brothers did: win a cup with the team that drafted him. Marc knows how important he is to our success, I'm hoping he wants to be a Ranger. He will have time later in his career to go play with his brothers in Carolina if he wants to.
 
Yeah that thread is really annoying to read through. I don't see Marc going to Carolina, he's in a different situation here than Jordan was in Pittsburgh. Hell, for all we know if the Rangers weren't in the same division as Pittsburgh he could have ended up here.

I do this of the rangers think they can move up a few spots and grab Mackinnon or Drouin. They would go into the lineup immediately.

Why do we trade Marc Staal for nothing again???
 
I hate the scheduling right now. Few games today, a bunch tomorrow. It's been like this for the past couple weeks from what I've noticed. It would be nice if there was an important game to watch every night.
