I’m not sure what has me more on tilt, Ovi not looking washed anymore, or the Caps being good. I live in the DC area and its been relatively painless with the Rangers being so good in recent years.

It’s gonna be rough if the Caps somehow keep this up and beat us in the playoffs this year. I don’t think it’s been a fluke. They had an offseason that we all lauded and have seen some significant improvement in a couple of key young players (McMichael, Protas).

We are getting real close to Gallant getting another coaching gig and it's gonna be damn funny. I can see him being okay for a year or two for a roster like Boston, but I see Red Wings fans and Habs fans calling for him. Either of those teams hiring him would be a monumental disaster and i'm here for it.

I was going to say, imagine a round trip ticket + hotels in Germany being cheaper than the American healthcare system but then I remembered he plays for Toronto so maybe the quality of care is better than in Canada. My sister used to say that universal dental coverage frequently mean dental students were the ones cleaning your teeth.

Trouba's contract stank before the ink dried and that has not gotten Drury fired. Sweeney will get tossed for a different reason.

Not blaming them for the Bruins sucking but throwing a boatload of term and salary at 2 middle of the lineup players was a death blow to an already aging and declining team.

Circa our 2014 cup run, we mostly paid for it in TDL acquisitions which led to a 3 year void in draft capital/assets.
Our bad contracts from that era were probably Girardi, Boyle, B.Smith, Shattenkirk, Glass. All the other signings were not great but also for less term, folks we were able to flip at the rebuild, or just non-factor 4th liners (Grabner, Pirri, Paille, Stoll, Stahlberg, Stempniak). But yes, I too pray it doesn't happen to us.

The Sens and the Sabres locking in their shiny, fancy, high end young talent long term with HF approved contracts sucking absolutely forever is my favorite NHL subplot year after year.

Sens haven't made the playoffs in 8 years with a 'proper' rebuild. Buffalo in 14 (!). But one of these decades they're gonna make it and we'll all be sorry the Rangers give bridge deals.

And we will rue the day. Rue the day!!!!

Just think, if the Rangers didn't sign Panarin and did a proper rebuild, they too could be going on many years without a playoff berth!
