I'd say it was primarily a cap dump. Two more years at $8.7M. Most teams can't absorb that hit. And it remains to be seen which Laine the Habs got. Either form, he still has that wicked shot that will always make him dangerous.

Kreider over Keller is even worse

Drury is one of the assistant GMs and this has him written all over it. It’s Backes/Callahan/Abdelkader all over again except even more egregious because Keller/Thompson are better than Bobby Ryan and Kessel. Every time Team USA execs try to clap Canada with guys who are bad but fit the bottom 6 mold
