Do the Blues ever give up more than 16 shots a game? Its disgusting.

Is Redden a free agent in the summer? Sather should look into signing this guy. He would give us a solid top-6. I think he would also handle NY pretty well. Maybe make it 6 years and $36 million?

Redenn with his 2nd !!! Hahaha unreal good for him . Typical NYR ill laugh my ass off he wins Conn Smythe with St. Louis hahaha on way to the cup

Redden's 2 seasons in New York were brilliant weren't they? Along with the 2 years he half assed it in Hartford because he knew he had a payday coming to him. Even if he did help McDonagh in CT, I'm glad he's not in the organization anymore.

I will always remember how it seemed like Sam & Joe were told to really talk up Redden, Gomez and Drury. Every time Redden chipped the puck out of the zone, Sam would say how great of a hockey play that was, or when Drury won a faceoff, they would point out how it was Drury who won the faceoff.

Then Redden got beaten by some 4th liner on a rush, fell down and Lundqvist saved his ass. Sam would say there must be something wrong with Redden's skates, LOL.

Meh. Redden was never as bad as the fans made him out to be - primarily because of his contract. He didn't deserve his fate to be buried in the AHL, but the amount of cap space the guy consumed versus what he brought to the team made that a no brainer.

At his current salary, he's a fit for nearly every team in the league. Same for Gomez.

I could never get an answer to this question:

Could we have bought out Redden and then re-signed him as a UFA?

Also, could we/can we buy out Drury's buyout to get him off the books?

Asked in the usual places and no one had an answer.

Teams are precluded from signing players they bought out for a calendar year. So no to Redden.

Drury's buyout cap hit is off the books after this year. The accelerated buyout that we used on Redden leaves the cap hit in place for this season. So even if it were possible to do as you described, we'd gain absolutely nothing from it and waste our second amnesty buyout.

I don't want a defenseman fighting. That's why I prefer Bickel on the wing and why I never endorsed Dale Purinton. And these days with just 6 defensemen, what good will a defenseman sitting in the box for fighting do to you? The Rupps and Ashams can do that, but I would like to have all of my defensemen at hand to jump on the ice when needed.

Makes sense if the defenseman is of the Purintin model. That guy fought everyone! In the case of Murray, he'll go about 3, 4 times per season. That's not going to hurt you.

I like the idea of a guy like Murray here. Rangers just don't have a guy like that who is ready yet. Murray is physical not just because he will drop the mitts but because he will battle opposing forwards. He had some great ones with Kassian.

The other night Wayne Simmonds won every battle in the Rangers end. physically the Rangers didn't have an answe for him. While he didn't score I believe he had about 6 shots that night. I think that was more than anyoayer on both teams. Most of those were the result of hard work in the dirty areas.

Here are Murray stats the past 5 seasons
Think before you talk...
He can be mean as a MF but not always needing to fight to prove it
Log some good minutes and he drops with heavies if he has to...

2008-2009 - 16:38 TOI - 75 games - 7 points - 2 majors +6
2009-2010 - 20:20 TOI - 79 games - 17 points 2 major +3
2010-2011 - 19:36 TOI - 73 games - 14 ponts 4 major +5
2011-2012 - 18:22 TOI - 60 games - 4 points - 1 major +3
2013 - 16:59 TOI - 5 games - 0 points - 1 major +/-0

Well it was more of a general comment than directed at Murray, per se, but I didn't bother checking Murray's stats, so you got me. So in that sense I wouldn't be completely against Murray.

Agree. Which is why I wouldnt want McIlrath fighting.

Murray would be ideal here. Perfect bottom-pairing guy to play with Stralman if Staal-MDZ stay together. He would fit right in with his "jam" and shot-blocking ability. Torts would love him.

The player doesn't HAVE to fight to have an effect on the game. The presence of someone who CAN fight is normally enough of a deterrent. I can pretty much guarantee a player like Neil or Konopka would think twice about snowing Hank or starting **** after the whistle if McIlrath were on the ice.

I can see Wild making playoffs this season.

Very unlikely. They've been bottom three amongst teams with the worst shot differential in the league for three years now, a recipe for disaster. They'll be bottom 3 again this year.

St. Louis gives up half the amount of shots than Dallas does.
There's a reason they can't fill their arena and are in money troubles

And apparently no one saw his terrible turnover in the game against dallas which led to a goal.

Obviously not. People just look at the stat sheet and see a goal.

"OMG he's scored a goal, he's amazing!"

"Torts sucks! Why didn't he play him?"

He wasn't even good in the AHL.

Not to mention that he's playing with a top 10 defenseman in the league.
