CAR-NYI really was such a boring and anticlimactic start to the playoffs. You just can't schedule a series like that to have the first game of the playoffs.

BOS-FLA was disappointing, a bit better action wise but florida blew a big chance with Bergeron being out yesterday.

Whoever scheduled the two best series of the East to be on the same day (and second day) of the playoffs is a moron.

Looks like the Western series brought the playoff action. DAL-MIN OT was great. EDM was a bummer, but McDavid hasn't woken up yet which I'm sure he will.

Tried to stay up from 12-2am to watch the Eastern games, went to sleep, woke up at 6 and saw that two games were still in OT. Gotta love playoffs.

Wow. I went to bed after the first period thinking Edmonton was running circles around the Kings. Wake up and they lost 4-3. No chance I would've thought that was happening.

Oettinger is such a solid goalie, but on that OT winner he looked like like an amateur.

He stops everything quick that comes at him. Bang bang plays, shots in close, breakaways.

But when there is a bit of a broken play and you have patience with the puck he cant recover and leaves an entire side of the net open. We saw Fox beat him on that delay move in OT and he lost his posture last night too on that play around the net. It wasnt even close.

That might be the read on him. Be patient in close and he'll open up like a book.

Stayed up late for that Edmonton game. I’m regretting it. Didn’t go to bed till like 2:30am, just work up now, Lol.
I did the same thing and watched the end of both. Latest ive gone to bed in a long time - also regret.

Its like not having a pizza for months, finally ordering one and inhaling the entire thing in like 7 min.

I mean its playoff hockey.

Two OT games in the first night?

It's literally PIZZA

Gonna order a pizza tonight and have some craft beer with it. My nerves are a little shot, I think I’ll be better once the puck drops tonight.

lol. every game ends at 2:45 for me here. Unless the NHL schedules their stupid 8PM ET starts - then add another hour.

Last year the 3OT game ended at almost 5AM here.

Lmao wtf is this guy talking about? That’s a very standard thing to do when a guys in front of your net, pretty big embellishment too. That wouldn’t even be a penalty in a non-contact beer league. I think the Wild were the much dirtier team last night and if anyone got the short end of the stick from the refs last night it was the Stars & Panthers

Last night was such classic Oilers lol.

"OMG! What an amazing move to the net by McDavid! Wait, he didnt record a point? And the Oilers blew a 3-1 lead to lose in OT to the f***ing Kings???"

You're delusional. Embellishment? Ever crack a rib? First of all Kaprizov is Russian, so you should want that called. And that ABSOLUTELY should be called at any point in the game. Pick your penalty of choice, cross check, interference, intent to injure? Take off your homer glasses & why do you give a shit about this series anyway.

Dmen do that shit to me every game and they never get called for it lol and the NHL playoffs is supposed to be tough. Definitely not Homer goggles, as you said Kaprizov is Russian lol; I definitely like the flashy Russian more than one of the most defensive dmen of all time in Suter. I watch every series, I watched all 4 games last night

I know it happens all the time, but usually not this blatant & especially when they were obviously targeting him all game. Regardless that should've been called.

Foligno went over to Suter & got right in his grille. Minny knows who their best player is by a mile, they aren't going to let that go on much longer without guys paying for it. Dallas would be VERY dumb to keep that up.

As an aside debate, I was thinking about McDavid's presentation he got from the short list of players who have hit 150 points. Lots of top 20 all time NHL players, and then Bernie Nicholls, who while a star was never a 'superstar' in any real era. Which is the bigger aberration?

1) Bernie Nichols scoring 150 points
2) Jonathan Cheechoo scoring 55+ goals

Number 2 big time. Cheecho was good to become a perennial 30 goal scorer in that era, which would have been great. The fact that he scored 56 was insane though. At that time, against those systems and the goalies that were in the league. Then his knees just gave out. Once he couldn't maneuver into tight spaces anymore it all fell apart. He did have a nose for scoring though and a cannon of a shot.

Cheechoo.

Nicholls had a lengthy NHL career and put up 90+ points 5 times and 100 or more 3 times. He had a great run with LA.

Cheechoo had two good years and played a total of 7 years.

I guess the issue I have with this, because I'd normally come to the same conclusion, is that to me the 150 point club is a hell of a lot more exclusive than the 55 goal club. There's been like 20-30 players to his 55 IIRC.
