I would love to know whether the Oilers ever called us with a serious offer for Kreider around the 17-18 period when we were going for the rebuild.
It would have been a hefty price, but I feel they would have been a much better playoff team over the past few years with him stapled to McDavid's wing

he's definitely bad at some things defensively, but he's always been really good at reading plays, breaking cycles, and alleviating pressure with flips (underrated skill). He's also good a stopping pucks at the blueline.
When Vegas signed him, I was still living there & following the team pretty regularly. After hearing about what he meant to the Blues, I was pretty underwhelmed seeing him game in/game out. To be fair he had a rough transition & one of his kids had some health issues during his first season as a VGK. Once I moved back east, I don't stay up to watch their games very often, but I'm sure he's settled in. That first year just left a lasting impression of how deficient he was in his own end & a complete lack of physicality.

Think this was the first time Schmid faced Carolina and he got got. So Ruff has to either go back to Schmid and pray it goes 1-1 or give another shot to Vanecek, who is a playoff disaster but has a shutout against Carolina after getting lit up before that. Switching to Vanecek down 2-0 will be a kiss of death.

This goalie carousel never works after Round 2. Tough on coaches but history says nearly all Cup winners had one goalie reach 16 wins.
They have to go back to Vanecek, IMO.

Ruff knew the Rangers' kryptonite was big goalies and 3rd stringers, and he had a 2 for 1 in Schmid.

I feel the same way about Toronto letting McDonagh go to Tampa. They should have been all over him.

totally, he was bad that year. IDK just my opinion on him. he's not a physical player that's for sure. reminds me of like a more talented joe corvo

Drai does a Gretzky with mouthguard hanging out of his mouth. Anyone on the Rangers ever dare try that and they're benched for the rest of the week and doing gassers in practice the next day.

What's that 9 goals for Draisaitl in not even 7 games? Last year put up 32 points in 16 games basically playing on one leg.

our guys won't shoot at an empty net from the slot, they'd never dare shoot from below the goaline
