To be entirely fair, very similar to Hayes, he never got big ice time prior to this season. He was always in the 15 min range and this year bumped up to 18 mins. However he scores 5v5 at a much lower rate than Hayes, unlike Hayes he has got a lot of PP time in his career with very very poor results, is not a regular penalty killer (he's like their last guy out on the PK), and has far worse on ice impacts.
Brock just had by far the best season of his career. It was also the first season of his entire career where he played for a real NHL coach. That's not a coincidence.

why would the Wild want Johnson? he still has 4 years on that contract. I thought Minn wanted to get younger. Honestly they aren't going anywhere by getting guys in their 30's like Kessel and Johnson.
I am in the minority that actually liked the trades for Fiala and Donato (getting two young guys that can play)

They probably don't want him, but they want Kessel and PIT told them they have to take johnson too.

Penguins are cooked ! They may as well tear it down and face facts . Anyways....I hope JR puts them in Cap misery and depletes all stocks on the farm attempting to get his club into the playoffs one more time....hopefully they just end up missing the playoffs by a point LOL...or making them again and losing 4 straight again .

Never underestimate the Penguins. They still have two generational players/one elite DMan (yes, he is oft injured). They also have drafted/scouted very well which helped them for those two Cups they recently won. It ain't over until Crosby/Malkin start to slow down.

this will be the blues 4th trip to the finals and they have never won a finals game...swept by montreal in 68 & 69 and boston in 70

Kool fact as I did not know that. Well you have to think that ugly stat is about to end.

Better yet, hopefully their 52 year Cup less drought will end as well cause the last thing I want to see which I've written numerous times, is the city of Boston having another damn parade in a few weeks. Go Blues!....

That was such a ridiculous format. All 6 expansion teams were in one division and the original 6 were in the other. I always think of those Blues finals with an asterisk.

It’d be like if they sent a team to the finals in 1994 out of the Sharks, Senators, Lightning, Mighty Ducks, and Panthers. The Sharks and Panthers were ok teams, but not someone you give an automatic shot at the Cup.

NHL has had some interesting playoff formats over the years. The Late 60s expansion division, the late 70s 1-16 2-15 etc which saw the Rangers have some very interesting matchups the two times they went deep in the playoffs (79: LA/Philly/Islanders/Montreal 81: LA/STL/Islanders). I was not a fan of the 82-93 format, loved the 94-13 format, and the latest is like 75% 80s and 25% 94-13 which will probably be changed once Seattle comes into town and Arizona figures out their situation.

And the format change to divisional winners getting the top three seeds automatically squeezes in there in the late 90s as well.

94-whatever year that happened would be my ideal format. The divisional winners getting the top three seeds is better than what we have now, but it still lead to some wonky 3v6 and 4v5 interactions.
