How **** can change so quickly. After a horrible sat/sunday we would be even lucky to get 19th overall and no first. Few days ago 18/28ish was looking good.

Yeah its tough, OTOH I do think Dallas has a fair chance in STL too. Its a coin-flip, not sure if we could ask for much more.

STL sucked for big parts of the 2nd yesterday, but they still didn't panic or lose their composure. Everyone knew a goal out of nowhere from them would really hurt for Dallas and those types of goals aren't that rare. OTOH, besides Bishop, I think Dallas also held it together pretty well. They got some awful reffin and some tough breaks, they still stayed on the right side.

Now the pressure is on STL.

Unfortunately, that's the razor's edge of the playoffs. We've had some great fortune --- Carolina, Winnipeg, Dallas pushing. We've had some eye rolling moments like the Tampa series, the Vegas-SJ series and Dallas not being able to close the door yet.

The truth is, it's easy to get bummed when you get close to the results you want. We can see the 18th pick and the 28th pick and it feels like it's almost within our grasp.

But if I had to pick one, I'd rather have the Dallas first than the 20th pick slide down an extra slot or two. Not that I wouldn't gladly take both. But I think there's more value and room for maneuvering having another first, than there is picking a couple of spots higher with our second pick.

I'd love to have 2, 18, and 28. But I'd take 2,20, and 28 over 2,18 and 50.

Well probably good he didnt since the ref wasnt blowing the whistle, would have been bad for him to let that shot rip while hes in the middle of taking his helmet off...
Wow, hasn't this sport changed. Was a time there were no masks, as they were facing shots whizzing by their faces.

And I think the most important issue is Zucc resigning with Dallas. If they have any quarries about giving up two straight 1sts, it might actually be good for us if they lose.

Is there any data available on like how likely a team is to finish at certain positions in the standings, in light of their result the previous year? It would be interesting to see some raw data on that. A team finishing X in the standings 1 year, is Y % likely to finish 31 the next season, Z% likely to finish 30th next season and so forth...

Re: the Dallas picks, my stance has generally been the "bird-in-hand" approach, not all that different than how I felt about the Tampa pick.

I'd rather have one, than the maybe of pushing back another 12 months. If we end up with both, great.

I think it's in play either way, but it might be a bit more likely they'll be okay giving up their 2020 1st round pick if they do lose. That being said, still rooting for the Stars in game 7 haha

Philly gunning for a top 5 pick ole ole ole

Hehe, but I don't know, even if individual moves by AV always can be questioned and the fact that he really rubs people the wrong way with he speaks etc, he does run a tight ship.

I think odds also are pretty good that he will push Philly quite significantly up the stands, incorporate a lot of kids on the roster, but still be hated for being a worthless coach who hates kids.

I agree. You take the sure thing. But regardless, we have no idea how this will play out.

Even if the worst outcomes in each situation come to pass, I still think in general GMJG has done a fantastic job over the past 1.5 years and the team is really in a good position to be better sooner, rather than later.

If he runs a tight ship he didn’t do it when he was here. He was the complete opposite which is what got him fired. He was a hands off coach and let the players run the show.

I guess it depends on what you mean by move into the teens.

From 20, we can probably get to 16-18 with a second.

With two seconds, we might be able to get to 13-15, but that's a long shot IMO.

If the Dallas pick becomes a first, I think 13-15 becomes a bit more likely.

If the Rangers go into the draft with three first round picks, I'll be somewhat surprised if they end up picking with all of them.

As a guy who’s eaten so many collar bones shots I can’t even count they hurt like hell. Never once did I ever roll around the ice like Neymar because of one. Especially if it didn’t break. It’s a stinger and he wears a collar guard so there’s no way he should have acted like that. The guy is an enormous baby always has been. Can’t stand bishop. Cost his team a goal there even if the ref prob should have blown it dead. That was embarrassing. Then he clearly still sore totally freezes when the guy winds up for the slap shot. Not because he couldn’t move his arm. Because he was scared of eating another one so he flinches. Seriously embarrassing. This guy is going to cost them the series. He’s had one good game in the whole series.

These last 48 hours have been depressing. Boston, San Jose, and the Blues win. Sigh. Plus I thought Game of Thrones was weak. Hopefully today these 2 series get pushed into a game 7. Damn Dallas.

Doesn’t Parayko have one of the hardest shots in the league?

Doesn’t matter. I’m not saying it didn’t hurt but if it’s not broken and he’s fine to play tomorrow it wasn’t even that bad of one. He’s a baby. Always has been.
