Here's a Sunday Funday thought to darken your day...

As a 40 year fan I was thinking, how could this #2 pick go wrong?

Debbies defy the odds and take Kakko. We get the "better" player who is a Yakupov-level bust.

These are the Sunday musings of a lifelong Ranger fan who has seen every permutation of disappoint.:neener::eek2: :welcome:

Yes, they could pick Hughes and he could be a bust. Or they could pick Kakko and he could be a bust. Those are the two scenarios where they end up with a bust.

We should all be praying the Devils take Kakko. But that undoubtedly will not happen.

Canes are gonna run out goalies with the way they're being pretzeled

Wake up call for those who weren't worried about the Piles.

Like I said earlier, their pace is brutal and bound to wear down the opponent.

I’m with you. I just feel so optimistic about getting the second pick and realize how often we can’t have nice things and it turns out badly. The post was a bit tongue in cheek. I like our odds with either.

Right now Carolina has the weakest forwards in the playoffs. Aho at 50 percent. There is no threat. They need svechnikov and ferland back. Even Martinook would be a help

It's never a good thing to misplace loyalty but players also know that teams aren't loyal to them and you don't have to look far for proof--a good example from this past season is Mats Zuccarello--who signed a team friendly contract--who bled for the Rangers for years--was treated at times by Tortorella like **** and who didn't want to leave but the Rangers moved him anyway and nobody argues that the Rangers didn't have every right to do that or that what the Rangers did wasn't a smart thing to do but still it wasn't really loyalty on the part of the team when they did trade him. So there is a quid pro quo thing going on when GM's and coaches and the players as well talk about the game as a business and when you have a quid pro quo dog eat dog business loyalty kind of goes out the window--or at least when it has to.
The stuff that goes on in contract talks is definitely business. I'm talking about leaving your teammates. Ideally the guys in your core are tight and that's a concern to them. If they all hate each other then maybe they can't wait to leave and the ones who stay are happy to see him go. I could see a guy in a bad situation, say Edmonton, Just wants to somewhere else and compete for a change. I think everyone would get that. But Panarin is going to at least the second round, on a tight team of underdogs, if CBus gives him a good solid offer, how does he walk away from all his boys like that?
